How will you watch F1 next year?

Sign up to SKY, I need the whole season, even though I hate paying for F1.

I'll stick with the BBCs 10 races, plus the highlights.

I already have sky sports, so it's just a new channel for me.

I had a look at the getting sky sports and it was going to cost me an extra 240 quid a year, then I spoke to my local social club who said they will open for all the races (so that means as long as I don't spend 240 quid on beer watching the races I have saved some money.)

if there is 20 races next year that means I will have to drink less than one and a half pints a weekend :-(

Your math might be better than that though if you decide to only go to the club for the half of races that are shown on Sky, but stay home for the BBC races

Good point :-) 3 pints a race then :-)

I have sky's basic package but won't be subscribing to their sports package for F1. This bbc/sky deals stinks and they are not going to get a penny from me out of it. The bbc should be ashamed of themselves for bringing sky on-board if what is said is true.

I have picked up a freesat kit from b&q for £25 and will be using that to tune into german channel RTL which does the live races. My plan is just to mount the dish onto a wooden board and store it in my garage, only taking it out for the races. Not ideal for those in flats but still one option which gets away from sky sports for non-bbc races.

All forumites should move to Australia I think.

We get BBC broadcasting of F1 100% free. Sadly we have commercials every 8-10 laps for about 2 laps, which means we miss some important battles of the race - but if it means the season is free for us then it's a price I'm willing to pay!

Would the dish work in the loft? I'm on the 2nd/top floor of a tenemant building but have the communal loft above which is only used by me and my neighbour. £25 isn't going to break the bank but paying someone with a long enough ladder might cost a bit.

I think it would be unlikely to work in the loft. It would depend on how attenuated the signal is by the the roof. I know that my Sky system starts to break up and loose signal when there is heavy rain.

So, what are you going to do during the races that are not broadcast live by BBC? Do you think the BBC will broadcast those races just for Australia so that you get your F1 fix live? Happy thumb twiddling to ya :P

Yeah but do you think.... *shudders*

I'm not so sure it'll be completely free for us next year - or we could have even more ads! :(

I have a worrying feeling; recently I have been seeing "We're sorry, this programme is not available to watch live on Sky Go." on various programmes on various channels on SKY's online streaming service; will this affect the SKY coverage of F1 next season? I will be mightily p***ed if it does, I don't mind watching full delayed coverage, but highlighted delayed coverage... not good!

Don't speed get the international feed but voice over their own commentary?
Australia would still get the international feed and use the commentary of the BBC or Sky.

Interestingly we have Speed down here now on cable, but No F1 due to the local station owning the rights.
