I'm not sure whether this will be a good appointment for McLaren; only time will tell; I can understand why McLaren had added to their team; the last few years; they have been struggling slightly and don't seem to be able to haul back the gap between themselves and Red Bull; Michael hasn't exactly covered himself in glory in recent years at Williams has he!?!?

Well his role at McLaren is not on the technical side as it was at Williams. But in saying that I wouldn't put all blame on him for Williams woes, their troubles are much deeper than one man.

I don't think that Sam Michael will need to "sign-on"; I'm sure he wouldn't qualify for benefits, unless he has been spending his money of wine and high-class hookers... :P

Yeah just an attempt at something slightly humorous. obviously not Andrews cup of tea :hehe:

I'm sure he has more than £16,000 in his bank account, even with all the wine and hookers.

I point out for legal reasons that Sam Michaels does not spend all his money on wine and hookers. He only spends half of it.

Good for Sam.

Hopefully he's onto bigger and better things.

Lesser job, bigger team. Least he isn't on welfare.

Meaning?

Seems an odd thing to mention........

I should think this will be good for McLaren. Sam Michael is one of the best things left at Williams as that team slowly becomes this generations Tyrrell.

Mclaren have for a generation now under performed (only 3 WDCs and 1 WCCs since the Merc was put in the back) primarily because they dont have somebody dotting every "i" and crossing every "t" allowing silly little things to endlessly cost them race wins and thus championships.

Thats a role Michaels fills well at Williams and should do well for McLaren.

What kinda engines were pushing them before lewis?

:confused: Uh... no, I mean, like,

WHAT -- ENGINES -- WERE -- IN -- THE -- MCLARENS -- BEFORE -- LEWIS?

The first season I began watching was with 2008, (didn't get to see 2009), 2010, and now 2011. The last time I read anything about mclaren and f1 was I think honda engines back in the senna days. Anything from there to 2008, I really no nothing about them.

Sorry, got you now. McLaren have used Merc engines since 1995. Before that they had a year of Peugot engines in 1994 and a year of Ford in 1993. Before that they were Honda powered between 1988 and 1992.

You'll get the engine info here.
