NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Sporting director? So he will be filling in a new role then? I hope he's not taking over anyone's place...the guy took over Patrick Head's role in Williams and from there their steep decline began.

The job description says, make sure things are tidied up around the pit area, make sure that all necessary numbers and letters are available for the pit board, and that people throw away their trash and generally clean up after themselves. Oh, it also involves dealing with the food catering service. Very important.

Damn... re reading the job description, if I knew McLaren had that opening, I would have applied!

Good for Sam.

Hopefully he's onto bigger and better things.

Lesser job, bigger team. Least he isn't on welfare.

Meaning?

what they call in Australia a dole bludger, government payments for the unemployed :D

I'm not sure whether this will be a good appointment for McLaren; only time will tell; I can understand why McLaren had added to their team; the last few years; they have been struggling slightly and don't seem to be able to haul back the gap between themselves and Red Bull; Michael hasn't exactly covered himself in glory in recent years at Williams has he!?!?

I don't think that Sam Michael will need to "sign-on"; I'm sure he wouldn't qualify for benefits, unless he has been spending his money of wine and high-class hookers... :P

I should think this will be good for McLaren. Sam Michael is one of the best things left at Williams as that team slowly becomes this generations Tyrrell.

Mclaren have for a generation now under performed (only 3 WDCs and 1 WCCs since the Merc was put in the back) primarily because they dont have somebody dotting every "i" and crossing every "t" allowing silly little things to endlessly cost them race wins and thus championships.

Thats a role Michaels fills well at Williams and should do well for McLaren.
