I was a fan of Villeneuve when he was in F1. His career unfortunately fell apart when he joined the ill fated BAR team run by his manager. It was a real shame as at the time he had some good offers from other teams after the decline of Williams. To think he may well have won the last title Williams will ever win.
Its a shame he couldnt have left F1 more gracefully and not kept trying to return. Its also a shame he has tried Le Mans and NASCAR with no real success, but then in his early career he was never much good in closed wheel racing cars. Lets not forget he is one of a few drivers who have won both the F1 and Indycar championships, including the Indy 500.
After all this he wont be remembered with as much affection as his father, but then his father had more raw talent. At least his legacy will have been to bring an F1 championship to the Villeneuve clan. Am sure his dad would have been proud of that.
Finally after everything else, he was an entertaining and colourful character in an often sterile F1 paddock!

It's a real shame because the Villeneuve name will be remembered for absurd bitter outbursts and not for Gilles Villeneuve who, going by what has been written about him and what is on YouTube, was an immensely talanted driver who died far too early.

Maybe he should stick to polluting the airwaves with his crappy music and knocking boots with the less successful of the Minogue sisters (yes I know my insults are out of date but who cares?!).

I feel sad for Gilles Villeneuve too!I watched a documantary about him and saw that he was such a gentleman.And its funny that he makes music.I listened a song of his but it was in French so i didnt understand.At least his voice isnt irritating.This one:

I haven't ever liked Villeneuve and one of the reason is his criticism to almost every other drivers.
He had 2 good seasons (1996 and 1997) and then he didn't win nothing... sometimes he should criticize himself instead than other ones!

Well,i didnt watch F1 during his years but i agree with you about his criticism.Once on his column in F1 Racing he said that Petrov's injure in Monaco wasnt as bad as going to hospital.He adds:''Nowadays drivers get injured like football players.Like Petrov did.'' .But then i thought it was because he thinks the ''bad crash'' is like his dad's.

Even when he was at Williams, he wasn't a nice guy really. I heard he was even rude to the mechanics and team members.

I'm not a fan of him or his massive opinions.

ARGH!!! My ears! That belongs in the cheesy song thread. It's so flat and middle of the road sound it's offensive. Quite possible the worst thing I've heard since the last Pussycat Dolls attack on the ears.

Haha i have heard worse!That song named Friday,a girl Rebecca Black sings it.I understand the lyrics that is what makes it painful.But i dont understand the lyrics in Villeneuve's song.The skiing moment makes the clip funny idk why.

I havent got a link .I read it in summer 2010 in a Turkish site,then in an English one so i dont remember.But maybe it was a rumor,still he is a bit annoying for me.

Plus,in forums,i post my posts colorful and bold even with different fonts.But here,they didnt let me to post them colorfully.Then,i just decided to post with bold.

Monaco Spain last year he was a bit sooky on the podium and post race press conferences, I think thats what he means by a bit annoying.

I swear i heard someone of the BBC on a pre race coverage, i think it was whilst Vettel was prodding the Pirelli man in Spa, that apparently behind the scenes Vettel is a right Prima Donna, i dont expect in the celerity way, but i think they mean pushy and moany when things arent quite perfect, i can imagine schumi was like that too.

There is a lot of stuff written about team mates and it's even better for the journalists if they think the drivers don't get on. Doesn't really matter either way as your team mate is your closest competitior.

As for you bolded text, it's nice to be seen. It's a nice change.

He's more likely to be the unwashed wilded eyed hobo standing outside wearing a tinfoil hat asking someone for a loan of a microwave so he has cook his left shoe whilst telling that he is the only deserving champion in F1 past, present and future. I'd say he'd be busking but busking is a noble art and some buskers are pretty good.

Vettel annoyed me last year with his in the dumps attitude because he wasn't winning as much as he would have liked. To be honest, schumi and button and kobayashi are the only ones I can think of that don't go right into pouty mode if something is perfect for them.
