Mr. Bridewell, are you an employee? I refuse to draw succour from the thought that a driver starts from 3rd when he should have been 2nd. Shame there's no chance of rain!

He's on the clean side of the track so in theory out of the 2 McLaren driver, he has the upper hand.

No I'm not an employee. Just a fan of the team.

They haven't deployed team orders when it mattered, they're going to deploy them when it doesn't matter? Really? We've seen instance after instance this year (unlike other teams) of McLaren letting their drivers race, so I don't understand why you'd get so huffed about it. Both Lewis and Jenson said they just didn't have it, maybe a tenth or two additional on the Red Bull but not half a second.

Enjoy the race tomorrow. Next year, we'll only remember who won, not P2 or P3 in qualifying.

All undeniable. I'm more confused than angry. Just remember that what people say at press conferences in no way relates to reality!

True, but jenson didn't look like a guy that was just told to slow down to let his teammate qualify ahead. Looked like business as usual to me.

Even funnier coming from the least offensive of the competitive teams.

How silly! At the point Button pitted it wasn't a decision about who would be 2nd and 3rd between the two. Webber was yet to post his third sector where RBR are mighty, Alonso was also yet to complete his lap. He could have ended up 4th (Webber being a more long shot considering how poor his first 2 sectors were, he'd have had to get a perfect 3rd sector time).

The logical conclusion is that Button made a bit of a hash of it, realised he wasn't going to improve his lap time and pitted. The team wouldn't risk team points just to favour Hamilton when the driver title is almost out of the question.

Oh and I'm a Button fan. Sorry to buck the trend.

I think that McLaren favour both drivers but don't tell anyone. It's a secret. :hehe:

Firstly, the footage didnt stay with Button around the last few corners so it is entirely possible he could have made a mistake.

Secondly, if there was even a whiff of a team orders radio message it would have been broadcast.

Thirdly, as someone has already mentioned; mclaren vs mclaren has provided some of the most exciting racing this season and has never been interrupted by team orders, despite it getting a bit hairy sometimes, so Mclaren had no reason to start issuing them in this situation.

Last but not least, if team orders had been implemented or Button got even wind of any preferences in the team he would have reminded everyone about his opinion on equality within teams. If he was going at all faster than his previous best coming out of the last corner, nothing could have stopped Button from crossing that line.

Well this is what Jenson and Martin said about it:

JENSON

“I was pretty happy with my first run in Q3, but I thought I’d be able to squeeze another tenth or so out of my final run. But, on my second attempt, I went a tenth down in the first sector and never really caught that up for the remainder of the lap, so I aborted it".

MARTIN

"Lewis and Jenson had each posted a good, fast lap in Q3 – but, in their efforts to improve, pushing to the limit, they both made small mistakes in the first half of their laps, losing time in the process. We therefore elected to abort both their laps".

I don't understand that comment; he was more than a 10th up on Vettel's time at the end of sector 2 (before Vettel set his final lap time); which would have moved JB ahead of Hamilton; I don't understand aborting the lap; why not complete the lap? he could have moved onto the front row; tyre degradation isn't that great at Monza.

You're boring.

Another conspiracy theorist....
