Only seems like yesterday that it happened and yet its 10 years ago!

Where was everyone when it hapepned?

I was recently expatriated from the UK to Columbus Ohio and 9 years old, cant remember why i wasnt at school or if i had started it yet but i remember spending all morning watching it on CNN, didnt really grasp what the huge deal was being under 10 but i do remember it.

Half my family are American and the other half are the British ones that live there, one if my aunts and uncles live on long island on like a hill and they spent all morning watching it in the street with every other family seeing the second plane hit and subsequent falling of the towers.

My mother was on the phone to her at the time and her voice was worried.

I was in school back in the day. The thing I didn't know is that USA attacked itself...

I was in work, when one of the lads came back from lunch and said that someone had flown into the trade center. So we put it on TV, some of the guys came back from servicing the Aircraft Navigation aids at the airport I was working at at the time and we where ribbing them saying that they had messed the aid up and look what happened, at that point the second plane hit.

My big memory of the day was whilst we where sat there watching it (by this time there was about 30 of us in the T-Bar, our overall boss said he was amazed that neither tower had collapsed, within 5 seconds the 1st tower collapsed.

I also remember the amount of Security issues there was , I still have a dislike of wearing body armour after wearing it for so long non stop as i did in the following weeks.

come again?

I was at an Irish Pub here in Adelaide watching stand up comics when it happened. This was late at night due to the time zones, overheard some people say a plane hit the twin towers, I assumed it was just a little private plane and an accident. Obviously once i got home and turned the TV on and saw the severity of the situation. Watched TV all night even though I had to be at work at 8am.

I think everyone thought it was just an accident until the second one hit. I also remembered there seemed to be confusion about the Pentagon being hit as well.

<EDITED WB>

I think I was in history class. Don't remember much more than that. I was pretty apathetic in high school.

I was getting ready to drive down to DC for a business meeting after lunch. So I did some work in the morning, showered and was killing time before heading out. I don't know exactly how I got the news... it may have been through someone I was chatting with via ICQ (it was 2001).

After running up, turning on the TV and sitting there dumfounded, I remember my heart sinking when the second plane hit, I remember instantly making the mental shift from "what a tragic accident" to "the US has been attacked by terrorists".

Needless to say my DC trip didn't happen that day, and we just stayed watching the horrible scenes over and over again, talking to family and friends in NYC making sure they were ok, I recall to this day, speaking with a friend that happened to be in Hoboken NJ getting on the train to go into Manhattan. It's right across the river from downtown. His voice was cracking, when he was telling me that he could see little white specks jumping to their deaths in order to escape the flames.

Are those facts or what we are told to believe WB? The whole episode lends itself to conspiracy theories so Vlad's comment is understandable, if not a bit harsh.

One things that is a fact that we can all agree on was that this was a huge tragedy killing hundreds of innocent people, that sadly led to even more killing, all of which were totally unacceptable.

As for where I was, I was in the car with my Dad listening to the radio waiting for my Mum to finish work and give her a lift up the road. I was working part time and was waiting to start university. I think I was on a day off or had been working in the morning, I can't really remember, so had gone out in the afternoon with my Dad for a walk. Got home, put on the TV and thought there was a film on, then started flicking channels and of course it was on everything. It was totally surreal.

I don't think this thread is the place to discuss it. and I for one am tired of hearing conspiracy theories about the whole event.

A fact is very unlike an idiotic ignorant unfounded drivel ... it's been researched and substantiated, corroborated by multiple unbiased and uninterested sources. Read my signature it's a great reminder of human nature.

Every December 25th, a huge chunk of the western world celebrates a belief that a Jewish zombie that was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood, and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in all humans because the first woman that was created from the rib of a man was convinced by a talking snake to eat an apple from a magical tree.

So come again about being told what to believe.

I was a schoolboy, and was told by my father when I'd returned home that afternoon. Then watched it all on the extensive news coverage.

Worst thing I've ever seen. :(:nono:

I was in the middle of my second interview for a job, with the managing director of a company. The sales director burst into the room without knocking to the annoyance of the MD, saying that there was something major going on in the news, that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre. The MD turned on the tv in his office and the three of us watched it unfold live in pretty much silence, about 30 seconds after we turned it on, the second plane hit... We couldn't believe what we were watching.

Needless to say my interview was postponed, until the following week. I actually got the job and worked for the company for 2 years.

I'll never forget that day, and can't believe it's been a decade already.

As for the conspiracy theorists posting on the thread, they don't even warrant a response.

An event of this size is always going to generate a good number of conspiracy theories.
