Guess who's next....THAILAND.

Pits to come with massage parlours? :whip:

RedBulls home race :D

That's very much just a rumour based on a Red Bull demo run. The rumour is that'll it'll be a street race around Bangkok, though Phuket may be a more welcome option.

Well I just meant the Redbull drink was invented in the land of Thais

It was? I didn't know that.

Yeah Mr Matesitzch discovered it while over there and bought it out.

I always liked Imola, safety is important but it is shame they could not have retained some of the character Tosa and Tamburello had before the crashes. The old section from the start line to the Tosa hairpin was impressive.

I agree I think changing the track should be the LAST thing that needs to be done.

It was a bit of a knee jerk reaction but Senna's crash was a very high profile event so I guess the FIA/track owners had to be seen to be doing something to slow the Tamburello.

yeah I know why they did it to that track, not that they needed too. Senna might not have died if there had been a 40 meter run off area with a tire wall. :crying:

This comment was written on another site and pretty much sums up the knee-jerk reaction:

Far too many tracks were ruined after 94. Kneejerk reactions usually look unnecessary after the event and the amount of chicanes that screwed up great corners post 94 is no exception. Tamburello didn't kill Senna, the car could get the blame for falling apart on impact, the run off area could get the blame for not slowing the car down and the barriers could get the blame for not absorbing the impact but the corner its self didn't do anything wrong.

I thought the bold part was pretty good.

...What in the devils name is homologation ?

In motor racing terms, it basically means accreditation, or even just acceptance. In the olden days, when most racing series were production based, a certain number of production cars had to be manufactured on which the racing car would be based in order to receive homologation. The abbreviation GTO originally was used by Ferrari to designate cars they designed to compete in the FIA's Grand Touring homologation series which, in Italian, is Gran Turismo Omologata. Omologata, in Italian, means homologated.
