Btw, these Lauda verbal diarrhoea moments are getting old. Whenever Button jumps ahead of Lewis in the standings (albeit briefly) Lauda's mouth starts flapping...very few people pay attention to him anymore. He's made a lot of stupid comments and become the next "Paddock Mouth" after Irvine. At least Irvine was witty.

Lauda, Irvine, Villeneuve... all tarred with the same brush... bitter has-beens...

It wasnt past tense. Its grammatically correct :tongue-ani: He wouldnt say he wished his balls areas big as lewis' would he.

You said he was wishing they were as big as Hamiltons, implying that Hamilton is now a eunuch or has much smaller cajones. Maybe if he was saying "I wish I had balls as big as....".

Anyway, I reckon he's having a laugh about Montoya's really saggy man boobs! He's saying "they were all the way down to here, flapping in the breeze". :hehe:

You might want to hit the grammar books. RC is correct. :)

Just pointing out the daftness of the English language at times.

Lauda is paid to give his opinion, but let's face it, the Hamiltonians will not like what he (or anyone else) will say against Hamilton. Anyone who isn't a convert will agree with him. What ever a pundit says, someone is going to be pissed off. I mean, what do you expect him to do when asked a question? Lie or be all sugar coated and false? Incidently, Jackie Stewart has said much the same as Lauda. Make of that what you will, but the guy is usually correct.

Lauda a has-been? That's the best one yet! Unlike teh other 2 you metioned, he achieved quite a lot in F1 and is widely considered one of the all time greats!

Has-Been: a person or thing that is no longer popular, successful, effective, etc

Niki Lauda is no longer an effective or successful racer like he once was.

You might want to invest in dictionary as well as a grammar book :hehe:

No need to patronise, there are reasosn. Think about it.

I wouldn't consider him a has been though. I dare say if Lauda sat on you're side of the fence you would think he was wonderful but because he takes a differant stance he doesn't get a fair press. Just look at internet forums. Some people dare to hold a different view to the masses and they get flamed. Just the way it is sadly.

Hey man, he won titles in a McLaren, I think highly of him. I just mean the chipping in of negative comments from the same former racers just gets a bit tiring. About anything. Lauda's targets always seem to be Hamilton, Villeneuve and Irvine attack the excitement value...same old, same old...

It's tiring as you are a Hamilton/McLaren fan. But you have to learn to turn the other cheek. It's one guy's opinion. Coming on an internet forum and slagging him off achieves nothing and to be blunt the hate is really alarming. If you feel that strongly, why not contact him instead of sitting and moaning anonymously? I'm sure he must have a Twitter account or next time he's on the BBC send in a question or turn the other cheek. Lauda has said some pretty dumb stuff about Schumacher which I have thought was a complete load of bovine manure but I'm not getting steamed about it. it is only one guy's opinion, nothing more. There are far far worse things to get annoyed about.

Another thing you have to look at is the questions they are being asked. These guys are not going around badmouthing drivers as if they have tourettes, they are asked their opinion and are often asked the same stuff by the same tired hacks. I can guarantee that Lauda will be on the BBC F1 coverage and I can guarantee that amoung other things he will be asked about Hamilton's shenanigans this year. And he will give the same answer which will be misquoted and twisted by the same reportrs and used to stir up ill feeling. How someone saying they are a fan of a driver and that that driver would be great if they stopped with the mistakes generates so much hate towards that person is beyond all reasonable comprehension.

To cut a long explanation/rant short - Lauda and others are asked a lot about Hamilton and they give an honest answer. All pundits are asked loaded questions aimed at generating sensationalistic headlines from the most mundane of topics. Simple as that and let's face it, not worth getting steamed about in the least.

The results speak for themselves more than any pundit or F1 fan ever can.

Wow. That's the first time I've been ranted at like that on here. :(

There was no hate in my comment. I just expressed my amusement that it's always the same three ex-racers that come forth with the criticism.

And I'm NOT a Hamiltonian. Stop calling me that.

It was more of a general comment not aimed at anyone specifically, just me having a rant. To be honest I'm surprised this thread is still going as it is so far off topic. I'm still getting used to the relaxed moderating style used here. On the forum I left a while back athread like this had a very short life expectancy before they were locked and forgotten about.

I just expressed my amusement that it's always the same three ex-racers that come forth with the criticism.

That's 'cos they are the ones that are asked for their opinion a t loet and they don't sit on the fence; they tate their opinion with refreshing honesty and no double talk.

And I'm NOT a Hamiltonian. Stop calling me that.

I did say Hamilton/McLaren fan. You would fall into the McLaren side thus being a McLarenonian. I take it from the tone of your words that calling you a Hamiltonian is offensive? Duly noted. :)

Oh for goodness sake andrew. Not offensive, just unrepresentative. I support the team. I therefore like LH and JB because they drive for the team and because they are bloody good too.
