I touched an F1 car today :D

Man, I'd love to see one up close before I die.... Touching one would be even better.

Seen a Jaguar F1 car before but didn't touch it.

Mmm. Nice colour-scheme on the Jaguars. Shame about the pace of the car though

Oh yes. A team that was bought off Ford for $1 is now the class of field.

It's not usually too difficult to get to stand next to one, and touch it if they let you.

I live in Toronto, and every year I go to the Canadian International Auto Show. There, in most but not all recent years, Honda or Toyota(not both at the same time that I can remember) had an F1 car there when they were in F1. I could touch them. They may have been previous year cars. The odd Chumpcar would also make an appearance. Williams had a setup there way back in the early 90s but I don't think the car was real. They had a driving simulator. Not sure why they were there, renault hasn't sold a car here since about '87.
At the F1 races the teams usually each have a booth in the F1 Village, maybe not every team. In '98 Lotus had a booth even though they were not in F1, and they had a Hakinnen era car there(I mean the era Hakinnen drove a Lotus). and in 2006 BMW had a whole park downtown, and they had a real car there to touch. But those were the only 2 times I have been to a race, both of them being the Canadian GP.
So I have touched maybe half a dozen F1 cars. I'd like to go to Goodwood and touch lots of them, the ones we revere from the cowboy days.

That's what i've done :P either there or at the Donington Park museum... I've touched THE McLaren MP4/14 Hakkinen drove at Suzuka in 1999 (see here) and the 1993 McLaren they have there that i think Senna drove in his final win at Adelaide (if it's not that it'd be the Donington Park winning car from that year). Oh and the Jordan Hill won in at Spa. Moral of the story is if you can, go to the Donington Museum and to Goodwood :P

Spend a hell of a lot more than that making the car good though! :hehe:

Unfortunately The UK is an expensive plane ride from here. I very much envy all your touchings!

Touching F1 cars is not hard. Like said elsewhere, motor shows normally have a recent chassis on display. Understandably, current cars are a bit harder.

I must say that I have been lucky in 2000 to touch the Ferrari, Prost, and BAR's in the garages at Albert Park. In fact I was checking the rear suspension/gearbox of the BAR a bit too intently that a mechanic came over and covered it up.... :D

I have crawled all over the '85 Ferrari, '86 Beatrice, and '86 Benetton, all with those crazy turbo engines... so cool. :hehe:

Having the opportunity to climb into a Jaguar XJR-15, as well as the 98 Le Mans spec Porsche 911, and a factory Porsche 962 was pretty special too.

Ever sat in an F1 car? I was 'blessed' enough to sit in Mika's 1998 chassis when F1 came to Malaysia (Sepang)...they had a gig in a huge mall which also made its debut that year and for rm50 (approx USD17) you get to sit in the car, take a picture, and get out.

Money well spent. :hehe:
