hopefull coulthard and brundle could be shared between the broadcasters or something like that. We were spoiled really with the quality of coverage for the last couple of years (Eddie Jordan aside).

I hope the BBC will stick with the same pundits. They're great.

Sky will probably have pundits of their own, especially when you consider some races will be covered live by both the BBC and Sky.

Doesn't matter who they have. If I do watch, I'll tune in a few seconds before the parade lap, mute the TV and put on Radio 5 to get some real commentary. Then as soon as the race is finished, switch off the TV or change the channel. The BBC 1 coverage has nothing that makes me want to watch apart from the bit with the cars whizzing round, and that is hardly unique to the BBC.

MotoGP will be next. The BBC doesn't care about motorsport. One upon a time (not too long ago) they had F1, BTCC, world superbike, MotoGP and British superbikes all with decent coverage. Now they have half arsed F1 and neglected MotoGP, though the pundits and commentators on the MotoGP coverage are good and far better than the shower on the F1.

Football fans have been used to all this for ages.

Did they kick up all this fuss? (Any more noise from that lot wouldn't be appreciated in MY corner...but did they?)

I don't follow that hateful sport, so I don't know....

Have they? Football, golf and ping-pong always seem to get royal treatment from the BBC. Even bloody pony jumping gets better coverage than F1!

There was an instance years ago that the BBC cut off an F1 race so that they could show a football match. Imagine them cutting of a football match to show an F1 race! It would sadly never happen.

is this like direct tv's NFL ticket? How much does this cost, do you have to be in the UK? Can you buy JUST the f1 coverage?

Aye, I remember that... it was during the World Cup or Euro two-thousand and something or other...

I was chatting to a mate who likes football, and the first big game of the new season was on Sky, which he can't afford to have... so it just got me thinking about our nice little predicament too...

People seem to have forgotten the times when the BBC have stuck with overrun f1 coverage over other programs.

They also do the same with football. What they don't do is cut off the football coverage for anything ever. I guess some things are sacrificial int eh eyes of the BBC.

Well, football is more popular in the UK than f1.

And? F1 is more popular than show jumping, cricket and golf yet the BBC clutter up airwaves with over the top coverage of these.

Can't remember the last time I saw cricket on the BBC, and show jumping was at least a year ago. Not seen them valuing golf over f1 either.

So objectively wrong its hard to see where to start, you not liking the BBC coverage, for whatever reason, doesnt reflect whether it is indeed bad coverage, ive seen nothing but praise from most everyone else over the coverage especially over ITV's, and yet your so sure that its such a bad service. Too many people including myself think its one of the best sport coverages in the world, i could count on one hand those that are dissatisfied with it. Im prettty sure the problem is your unreachable standards.

"Now they have half arsed F1"

no they dont, they have a website, 7 dedicated F1 Broadcasting team members of which all twitter constantly the latest news, they have bbc red button, they have an hour of coverage before the race, and about an hour and half after the race including the forum, GREAT coverage from interviews to silly tasks that are a world above the basics with any other broadcaster, they have great access, great relationships, great KNOWLEDGE with two commentators having raced for years in F1.

Oh yeah and as a kicker, every other weekend they dedicate about 3 hours midday on the worlds biggest, oldest and best broadcasting station anywhere in the world, on both saturday and sunday to our F1 needs, if thats half arsed then i dont know what else to say.

As for the watch the race with 5 live commentary on sky then immediately turn off, i dont know what moral high ground your trying to take here, but you could watch 5 hours before and after the race and sky would be getting the same amount of money from you then turning it on at race start and off at race finish, your not outsmarting them by doing so.
