Today a red arrows jet crashed after taking part in a Boutmnouth airshow. The pilot is dead. From an amature video the plane can be seen flying very low and then disappears. They are asking for any eye witnesses to give information.

Saw an initial article on the internet about a Red Arrows plane going down in a field, but the accident had only recently happened.

Then turned on the TV later to find out the pilot is dead. Very sad news. :(

He could of survived but instead chose to guide the plane away from the childrens play area and housing estate.
Must of been a very tough choice.

Yes, very, very brave man. I guess they dont take on guys who only look after themselves for these sorts of jobs. Looks increasingly like an engine failure. Died doing what he loved and knew the risks, but so sad nevertheless.

As you can tell from FRAFPDD i used to so badly want to be in the red arrows, only saw them last at silverstone.

Even stranger id totally forgotten about them for a year and a bit and randomly looked at the pilot lineup on their website two days before this incident, all the names i remembered had changed bar the team leader or red 1, who was a newbie to the team when i used to keen them.....

Cant begin to speculate what caused it but i wuoldnt say engine failure, theyd of clocked onto that immediately, he would of pulled up and gained height and then just glided the plane to the runway for an emergency landing,

i reckon hes either blacked out pulling too much G's, a rare error but it caused the death of a Us navy airshow plane only 4 years ago so possible,

or something seriously went wrong with the planes controls that he had to wrestle it to keep control.

But it was after the display had finished. And he was low. Sounds like some sort of equipment failure.

Or pilot error. Not the first time a pilot has screwed up by going too low and/or too slow.

Being finished is more the reason for him to lose concentration now the hard parts done though.....

I dont think it is pilot error personally.

And just becaues your low doesnt mean you cant pull serious G, all you have to do is put the plane on a vertical axis and pull, which is what hes doing in the video.

Its an odd one, but engine failure is unlikely, its so compartively easy to get a plane home on an engine failure, becaues it doesnt just kill your speed immediately, it drags off. Hed of pulled up, swung round, and landed at the nearest airfield on a glide. Theyre taught to do that.

My bet is a mechnaical failure, maybe hydraulic loss or something.
