It didn't seem to be any better than what the BBC produce now. If anything it looked like a carbon copy or very similar.

I have no doubts that the economic climate and austerity measures affected financial status of the BBC. But look at what's not being said.....This renegotiated BBC/SKY deal nets FOM an extra £20M+ per year over current contract and Bernie has stated each F1 team will receive an extra £1.25M next year. The current Concorde Agreement also expires at end of 2012. Is it possible your TV rate hike pays for another one of Bernie's bribes, try to pacify F1 teams and stave off talk of break-away series again. There's always an ulterior motive to Bernie's greed, just follow the money.

I call on your theory. Especially when it was the BBC that brought Sky into the equation, not MrE. The TV License has been stable for a couple of years and there is no hike for a allowed by the Government for a couple of years. The problem is the BBC not having the brain power to economise. Just watch the BBC's coverage on any sporting event and the saturate it with far too many too highly paid presenters, except MotoGp which to an extent gets the mucky end of the stick.

The fact that your theory states that this may be an attempt to try and pacify the F1 teams and stave off talk of a break-away series point to the teams pulling the strings, not MrE. Ultimately, if there ever is a break-away series, F1 will still exist. Just be some different teams but it will still be a massive cash cow for CVC.

Calm down andrew, the existing BBC contract to televise F1 races is approx £45M per year. As you say the BBC invited SKY in and now the split £20M/£45M, with SKY paying additional £20M over value of first contract. Out of the goodness of his heart, Rupert Murdoch/SKY gives £20M to Bernie/FOM/CVC. Get real !!!!!!!!!

Even though i have sky sports HD and stuff this is crap, i mean , will there be ads during the race and different commentators?

And this will also make viewings maybe go down as not everyone has sky or sky sports,
