Let's try a more direct clue.

How many points were awarded per race in 1950? How many in 1961? 1991?

Is the next number 101? It's the total of all the points awarded per race each time the scoring system has been revised.

1950 = 24
1961 = 25
1991 = 26
2003 = 39
2010 = 101
