Don't worry, folks. A bit of robust policing will fix it all.

Thanks to the moronic bill of human rights, robust policing is no longer allowed. This is the same piece of legislation that allowed a convicted umpalumpa offender to send letters from Peterhead prision, where he was residing, to one of his **** victims. The letters were uncensored for fear of breaching this scum bags human rights and his victim received letter taunting her about what this guy had done to her. What a wonderful bit of legislation(!) Sadly if the police go in and create merry hell to sort out these morons then they will preach that their human rights have been breached. Warped or what?!

Send in the army I say.

Quite right. Martial law needs to be declared. It's extreme but I think it is the only thing that will sort this mess out.

Read my 1st post on this thread. I seriously doubt that most of them know why they are going nuts and are just along for the ride with some casual looting thrown into the mix.

It was a reference to that ridiculous interview given by Theresa May.

I hadn't seen her interview. I take it that the interview was the typical meaningless pish?

EDIT: Just seen it. I like how she claims they can deal with it but it doesn't look like they can. It looks like the only way to stop this mindless violence is to retaliate with mindless violence. The police look like they are struggling with officers being brought in from other forces. The army with well aimed water cannons is the only solution now.

The answer to every question was "we will tackle this problem with robust policing". It's like that interview with Ed Milliband where he answered three different questions with the same response. Ridiculous.

At least the level of policing has been increased. 16,000 is a good start, but there are still some issues in that they're held back by various regulations making it easier for people to smash the place up without fear.

I have been watching this streaming live on the BBC website; it's really really atrocious behaviour; it has nothing to do with the Mark Duggan shooting; these hooligans have used this as an excuse for criminal behaviour; looting, burning cars, shops and people's homes while the police seemingly stand back and watch from what I have seen on the TV footage.

Exactly. Only, I don't think we had enough police officers out last night to actually do much - too many people being mindless idiotic thugs.

I am immensely grateful I don't live in London any more. One of the blocks of flats that went up in flames was where we were considering moving to so thank God we didn't. My father still lives there and was very close to where some of the rioting was.

It is truly sickening behaviour.

These are race riots!
A black man was shot while he was brandishing a gun, though the media won't say it the rioters are mostly blacks or asians(Indians).

end of the day all it is, is an excuse for criminals to act out, I mean what point are they making when they break into shops and steal HD TV's? Its just thieving under false pretenses and a just cause.

Was meant to see some friends in a play in London, but it's been cancelled due to everyone's safety! The streets around it are in tatters...

Thankfully nothing's come near my bit of London at the moment.

My take on it is there's been a sizeable amount of the population who just don't value the rest of society. Their pissed and violent generally, and although they obviously use stuff like hospitals, local council services they take it for granted.

The police shooting was just a spark IMO.

Some trouble around where I am, saw a fair amount of police out at 6pm when coming home along with kids out on the street dressed "ghetto", and I think some roads were closed. Nothing too major, lots of shops closing up early today, and people standing around looking concerned.

I don't believe that to be the case; there were 6,000 officers; more than double the amount of rioters, there seems to be a lack of organisation by law enforcement over the last few days, modern policing is afraid to go in hard for fear of being accused of being heavy handed; watching interviews, they rioters seem to think that they can do whatever they want and from what I have seen on the BBC; that seems to be the case; these rioters should be afraid of the law, not flouting the law in broad daylight!

You just have to watch this video: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14458424 to realise what youths think! this sort of attitude makes me proud to British!

There are even idiots trying to get things to kick off up here. There was a facebook site set up encouraging a riot in Glasgow. Thankfully, us lot seem to be more sensible that the moral majority who are wrecking Englandshire and there was a mass of messages asking for the page to be shut down and even a counter page set up against a riot up here. The news just reported that a 15 year old has been arrested and the police seem to be on top of any attempts up here to cause trouble.

There are a fair number of officers being draughted in from other forces throughout the UK to help, but I think the main problem is that the police can't do very much and they have no real deterrent. A stick and a tin of pepper spray ain't much cop really.
