Set aside the integrity issues of Simon leaving FIA and joining PURE, a wannabe engine manufacturer in F1. Is PURE going after Cosworths customer base, all of two teams in 2012. If the answer is no, then who is funding PURE and what are their motives. I feel Murdoch lurking around here but maybe it was before he got his slice of F1 pie to air races on Sky.

I don't know where the funding is coming from, but I imagine it would be fairly legitimate considering both Pollock and Simon are involved. As for customer-base... Probably the smaller teams to start with, but it's possible that both McLaren and Red Bull Racing might be looking for new suppliers come 2014. The problem there is that there's going to be uncertainty over engines anyway, but there might be more of it surrounding a brand new manufacturer with those regulations than one of the longer-standing ones. I definitely like the idea of having another engine in the sport, though I was more hoping for Williams to come to an agreement to run Audi engines than anything else. It would be good if PURE built a competitive engine, I just hope Pollock doesn't make the same claims as he did when BAR came in to the sport. McLaren-PURE (just as an example) doesn't exactly have a bad ring to it, though.
