[What's Burning?]

Anyone realize....hypothetically if Lewis wins the next two races and Seb DNFs:

Seb: 216
Lewis: 184

With 7 races to go. Amazing how one victory can suddenly build hope again, no matter how small. This applies to Webber/Alonso fans too of course.

Why not 3 wins and dnfs?
216 vs. 209.

Or why not 4 wins and dnfs for that matter?
216 vs. 234.

Let's give the man some respek he clearly said hope not delusion.

He was not screwed over by the team; both drivers were ordered to come in; Jenson just elected to stay out as he was happy with the track conditions, ignoring his team's request. Bad strategic call, certainly but McLaren were in no way screwing Lewis over, can he win the title this season? Vettel will need to retire from a couple of races for that to happen, which is not likely!

This is Vettels title, and I really dont mind anymore....its nicer to hear 'Youngest Double WDC Vettel' rather than the other double WDC on the grid.

Odds for Lewis finishing second is absolutely stacked in favour but no one really cares about that anyway. Let's just get more race victories!

I think if McLaren can keep up their form in the last half of the season with a strong Ferrari also then Sebs lead may be eaten into. In that scenario we will see if Seb can handle the pressure of being chased.

We'll need like 3 straight victories from either Lewis, Fern, or Jenson for some pressure to creep in. Vettel's biggest advantage is the number of competitors involved in race victories every time. If it was something like Mika-Michael in the late 90s it would be a lot more clear cut.

TBH I dont think we're going to see Vettel under any extreme pressure for the title this season. Next year will hopefully be a different story, but I just can't see him throwing this away. I had hope a couple of weeks ago, but he's just finishing too many races in good positions.

That's what I find quite funny. We should relishing the fact that we have 5 or 6 drivers each race with a real opportunity for a win, rather than just a duo who are always going to be at the top. It's very rare! It's incredible just how competitive the last two Grand Prix seasons have been, and this season would be up there with the very best if Vettel and the RB7 wasn't so dominant. And that's where the frustration stems from. It's a great period to be following F1, and it's my hope that the other teams can develop cars to match the RB8's pace next season and give us what will be another brilliant championship.

IMO it's a great start to the decade for the sport - despite a lot of the controversy regarding tracks, engine size, rule changes etc. We've got a great couple of years in store - especially with some of gems in the midfield teams making their way up the ranks.

Red Bull is the only team not to have suffered a DNF so far this year. That's a big points factor that's easy to forget.

And put under pressure that stat may soon change, when you're the chaser you take risks and inevitably DNF. Sebs been either 1 or 2 every race aside from Deutschland. Can he keep that stat up? Law of averages says not

It may have been Lewis's choice to come in for Inters but at that point he was already in a bad place.

Everyone seems to believe the inters choice was what lost him the race but are totally ignoring the fact at his 3rd pitstop "around lap 40" he went onto the options while both Button and Vettel went onto the primes and he only had a 7 second lead at that point in the race, he was guaranteed to have to stop again meaning he needed to pull out 13 seconds worth of time with those SSoft tyres which had only been lasting an average of 10-12 laps throughout the race.

The choice to go onto the inters and the spin + penalty obviously made it far worse but after the 3rd pitstop he was basically in 3rd place and had to push hard to make up for that mistake, which is most likely what caused all the other mistakes.

Not saying it was the teams decision as it hasn't been clarified if it was lewis or the team that decided on the 4 stop race but that was point when the snowball started and it all went down hill from there.

From memory Alonso went to SS tyres and was 2 seconds a lap faster, I think this is why McLaren put him on SS but you're right, that is where the race was lost.
