Whoa now, RC. Eddie?

Maybe all this time off for school holidays is sending you a little insane... :hehe:

Don't OneHD (Aus) stream on their website? As far as I'm aware, RTL will still be getting coverage for Germany, although I've not seen any confirmation. There are also two Spanish channels getting it, but one of those is only a local channel rather than national (sadly said to be the better of the two).

I know I know, even Eddie!! He's grown on me, they all go togther so well.
Holidays?? This is it, finito!! Yep, its gone to my head big time. Thanks for the info on other channels. I think a little experimentation is in order before next season.
What a callous greedy man Bernie is.He cares nothing for the fans that have made his money for him. He could forgo an extra house for his daughters.

Finished?

Sorry. Was I ranting? this does make me angry. Money going to wrong paces. real fans disregarded.

Now you've confused me. I'm now no longer sure if you're saying you're done with working in a school (possibly working in general), or you're just fed up with Bernie. :hehe:

Hopefully the large number of british F1 teams might be able to have a say in this and I hope they come forward and complain.

Complaints are already quite numerous from the public. Just seen a Facebook page linked to a petition that has also appeared somewhere in this thread. Many folk sending complaints to the BBC. They're gonna be inundated. :hehe:

They still won't listen though.... :(

Hopefully FOTA will leave F1 whenever the contract runs out and form 'Eff Juan', giving BBC exclusive UK broadcast rights until the sun burns the earth.

I'm sure there are some vacancies at our primary, although I'm not sure a move to Lancs would be favourable. :P

Bernie, I agree with you on. He's a pain and needs to go, but I do think that he was forced in to this by the BBC somewhat. The teams want a greater share of the revenue, so him reducing the revenue by up to 50% wasn't exactly going to help them with that. However, with Channel 4 declaring interest, it would have been possible to keep it FTA (I feel) by alternating races between the BBC and Channel 4, as was the case with the World Cup on BBC and ITV. Still, I don't see anything changing now. At least if the races are shown in full but delayed on the BBC, we have some kind of hope.

My Mum's a teacher, my Auntie is a semi-retired teacher, my Dad's oldest pal's wife is a teacher, my Mum's oldest friends (note plural to friends) are teachers. Now I find this site and one of the moderators is a teacher. Can't escape bloomin' teachers! Have to say though you're the only one who still really enjoys teaching! :hehe:

You ex-boss wan't the BBC board of directors? MrE is a saint compared with that shower! They are the ones where the blame solely lies for this shambles.

Lancs is a bit far away...but do you have a wood near your school? :hehe:

But the races wont be shown in full will they? Only in full the ten designated races, the rest highlights only :(:(:(

The staff are a bunch of planks, if that counts? :P

Seriously, now that they're no longer my employer, I would not recommend anyone work for the academy. They've screwed so many over that it's just unreal. Wait...shouldn't badmouth your employer, definitely shouldn't badmouth your customer? Oops... ;)

Apparently, there are discussions going on to allow the BBC show the whole race on tape delay, rather than just a highlights show. That way F1 would remain FTA, but us non-Sky-subscribers would have to wait to see the results. So that means being rather careful about who you talk to, where you go online and what you watch on the TV in order to avoid finding the result out. This isn't confirmed, however, and at the moment it is still being branded 'extended highlights'. :/

Problem is, nobody would take up the coverage because nobody can really afford it. The BBC and Sky would be locked in to the remnants of F1, ITV aren't interested. Maybe Channel 4 and Five could, but I'm not sure I can see that. FOTA's best bet is to push on the tape delay, hope that Sky don't find it a good enough investment (why pay £500+ per year when you can just watch it a few hours after it happens) and then force Ecclestone in to offering it at a lower price. Of course, that then doesn't benefit the teams, but I actually had some ideas for FOM to make back some money. In a similar way to the attempted F1 channel launched a couple of years ago, FOM could sell their own online subscription service which gives viewers greater coverage through the F1 website. It might mean scaling back what can be broadcast by the channels they sell the rights to (perhaps practice sessions, or some of the interactive features) but it could work. It would have to be a low-price service for it to take off, mind you.

This move by Bernie doesnt suprise me. He is a sneaky money grabbing little pr1ck. Watch him run now every time Jake tries to interview him about what he has done. And then there are those comments from that Williams employee. Come on get real, the reason why F1 teams have so many sponsors is to enable them to cover the cost of running a team. Then some of the big teams have backing from the big engine suppliers. Of course his view is from a team who have to buy their engines. The other sports he cited may be cheap to run but then a tennis player maybe only has one sponsor, and any money a player wins only goes to himself, coach and manager. F1 has been going for years with free to view coverage, how come all of a sudden it needs pay per view. Especially now that F1 has in recent seasons been on a cost cutting exercise.
All it boils down to really is Bernie wanting to line his already fat pockets and the BBC capitulating on the cost of televising this sport. I wont be getting Sky, let alone Sky sports as I cant justify the cost and never want some dirty great dish on the side of my house. So next season looks like I will be relegated to watching half of the races and depending how that goes, could be the last season I watch F1.
