To help support (whoever's point) I never liked beer, never will. Carlsberg, Guinness, Tiger, whatever...I'd gag after drinking half a can. However, I do enjoy some hard liquor and especially Kahlua drinks. They are alcoholic and I genuinely do enjoy its taste instead of just the effects.

I'm pretty sure many naturally love the taste of beer, without its effects. Different tastes I guess but I know my kind are quite rare...I don't meet people who gag while drinking beer too often.

i imagine the truth is somewhere in the middle, depending on the amount of alcohol involved. There are plenty of ingredients in beverages that, at a certain point, will overpower the palette, but kept within a certain level, impart their own character to the drink. Alcohol should be no different in that respect.

Take citric acid, for example. Perfectly tasty and refreshing in orange juice, but does anyone take a cup of lemon juice with their breakfast? I personally don't care for any alcoholic beverages, but I can understand if some people genuinely like the taste of a well-crafted spirit.

Must say the one thing i was happy bout leaving america for was a good beer when i got home

This is pure ignorance talking. The US has some of the BEST beers in the world, you just need to look for them. Tons of microbreweries that craft excellent and interesting beers all over. Who gives a toss what white trash drinks here (Bud light et al.)? It's the connaisseurs you need to talk to in order to find the pearls in beer heaven

not even white trash, any preppy party you go to - people are drinking crap.
I do like some ales though, but most of the microbrews are straight black and taste bitter as hell. Others taste like they were brewed from sticks and grass
It is fun to go to breweries though, you just gotta know what kind of beer you like
