So is this stuff banned for good or was it allowed for the rest of the season but banned next year because of teams agreeing?

Looks like it's back on except for 'changing of the engine map between quali and race', so we're back to Valencia spec rules.
Next year it'll probably be banned, but at least the teams will have sufficient lead time to change their designs.

EBD's are set to be ended in 2012. They will probably specify where the exhaust should exit the car and it will probably be somewhere beyond the diffuser. The FiA has signaled their intention to ban them for 2012.

pretty sure they have the new regs suggested already. I think i read exhaust exits will be 300mm in front of the rear wheel, well away from the diffuser or the floor.
