deMuRe, you say "If Schumacher started his first season in the best car he would have taken the championship by a country mile..."

So how come in 1991 (Schumachers first year in F1) he had 5 races in a Benetton with finishes of - 5th, 6th, 6th, Retired, Retired, in a car that had, in the same season, finished on the podium three times, including one victory. Surely if Michael was going to have won the title "by a country mile" he would have mirrored these finishes in his five drives?

With competition in 1991 from the likes of Senna, Prost, Piquet, Berger, and Mansell I think you are making a somewhat highly doubtful claim. It is also interesting to note that Michael's pre-F1 pedigree clearly wasn't good enough to get him a top team drive immediately, whereas Lewis has achieved that.

There's no rule as to when Autobiographies are released. Hamilton's is probably only going to be about his life leading up to just before the start of the 2007 season.

Or maybe something more like Hammy thought he was going to win it on his rookie year, and probably had a whole book written about it and a nice n flashy hard cover... But then  he had to come up with something to fill that flashy hard cover.

The B191 from 1991 was the best of the rest behind McLaren and Williams, the only big downfall about the car was its Pirelli tyres. When they switched back to Goodyears and used the interim B191 in early 1992, Schumacher and Brundle were 3rd and 4th on the grid in Mexico with only the practically invincible Williams FW14b's ahead of them.

The Benetton wasn't the fastest car that year...

No, it was either the Williams or McLaren, with 7/16 fastest laps it is fair to say the Williams was, and yet Mansell still failed to beat Senna that year; and yet you seem to think Schumacher (in his rookie season) would have done? We shall never know, but I doubt it very much.

Moreno managed fastest lap at Spa in a B191 - ironically before being replaced by Schumacher - and then even more ironically, Gachot set fastest lap (in the car of my namesake ;)) at the race before that at the Hungagoring, before being put in the nick and replaced by Schumacher. Funny non?

We'll see :D

Yes racechick we will see.
The way you go on about him you will be suicidal if he fall on his bottom in 2008.

I will be astounded if he is not competitive next year (I dont necessarity mean win the championship, that will depend if the car is good and the FIA dont put the boot in again)I mean, all things being equal be as good or better than Kimi.
To me he is the most talented and has the most potential of anyone since Senna. Thats why I said "we'll see". If im wrong then Im wrong. I cerainly wont wet my knickers about it, I do have a life

Come on now a 'fastest lap' mean's bunk it's who is going to be faster throughout the whole race. I enjoyed and liked Moreno and Gachot but but it's apparent the decision was made that Shuey was the better overall package. I'm not debuncking their skill but as a team principal you must have the foresight and intuition to see what the future way hold and what driver can or will meet that criteria.

And you cant race from a prison cell which sort of swings the decision of having the race seat away from you :D I bet he has a few 'if only' moments

Still not convinced. -------- YET :?: But that was a more level headed answer.

number 1 driver at Mclaren depends on who is in the car. Hamilton will be number 1 if someone like de la rosa steps into the seat but if a fast driver is in the seat then number 1 status will not exist

There's no other driver on the market that could claim equal status with LH based on last year's results even though HK made some noise about not being willing to be number 2 next to LH if he gets the seat, I'm sure he'll cave if necessary.
