I to wish all this would stop and we start a clean slate in 2008 it is so tiresome.

Here is what Max has to say on the subject.

New McLaren hearing 'necessary' - Mosley (F1.Live.com)

Max Mosley on Friday confirmed suspicions that McLaren has reason to be worried about its next trip to the World Motor Sport Council.

The FIA body in Monaco ruled that, following an investigation into the legality of the team's 2008 car, another detailed hearing should be held in mid February.

Ferrari and other teams will be allowed to make representations about the FIA inspectors' report, that was tabled in the Monaco meeting on Friday.

"We would have very much liked to end this unfortunate chapter today, but another hearing is necessary," FIA President Mosley said in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport.

He added: "Believe me; if we fly 26 people from all around the world, then we have good reasons."

It is now strongly suspected that, based on the FIA inspections, the report found that McLaren's 2008 car cannot simply be given a clean bill of health in terms of whether Ferrari intellectual property has been used for its design.

Mosley says McLaren is already aware of the FIA's concerns.

"They were informed early on about our doubts," he said. "They will have had sufficient time to react should the doubt be confirmed.
"

He also rebuked suggestions that the FIA is guilty of double standards in continuing to pursue McLaren but letting Renault off the hook for a similar case of spying.

"McLaren was punished because they did not tell the truth on 26 July. It was stated that the information had flowed exclusively to Mike Coughlan.

"Renault admitted from the outset that the information was discussed among a wider circle of engineers," Mosley explained.

"I do not have a problem with Ron (Dennis)," he continued. "I just want to hear the truth if we have to solve an internal problem.

"During the World Council meeting on 26 July I have the impression that he did not tell us the truth."

Well, this comes as absolutely no surprise. Given the term coined, Ferrari intellectual property or McLaren parts resembling Ferrari parts, or whatever it was, was so woolly, you could really include anything in that.

Looks like Ferrari will be doing another undeserved double again next season.

the worst thing to happen would be for ferrari to walk it, there have been some good years recently, 05 and 06 especially, going up to the last races,

it would be a shame for a long term team to sit out, it wouldnt go down here too well with all the new lewis fans, ( not me)

i want a nice clean(ish) year where the action is on track, the fia are dismantled and replaced (and renault on top again?)

whose for that?

Renault on top? No way! They'll be 3rd behind Ferrari and BMW or BMW and Ferrari...

It's as simple as that, all the McLaren fans crying foul is simply a representation of their own frustruation with their own team. Stop complicating things with excuses and endless arguments as to why McLaren is innocent.

All McLaren had to do was come clean.

End of.

Demure if it was as simple as that then why is Max going on about wanting "eauality" by going over the MP4 23? ANd i belive it was Ferrari who had appealled the first hearing so it wasnt to be let go since then anyway, it was always going to be something. it could have finished there and then and concentrate on racing but no.
do you think that if McLaren had found in their own investigation that Pedro was emailing Coughlan and let it be known in the july hearing then FIA wouldnt be going over the 08 challenger?
are you serious in thinking Max would have let it go? youre loopier than i thought!

END OF.

Lets all hope the McLaren doesn't turn up in 2008 with a steering wheel and four tyres; it may just be an "idea" they gained from looking at the Ferrari.

I wonder if Todt will be getting any "ideas" for use on the Ferrari when he gets to inspect the 2008 McLaren?

I wish the FIA would cast away these personal vendetta's and look at the bigger picture. We just had a fantastic season that brought back alot of fans to the sport and more media attention, despite the court nonsense.

If Max gets his way the only thing that will stop Ferrari is reliability, which means a dull season. Does Max drive a Ferrari or something?? Is he on the waiting list for a special edition?

You got that the wrong way around: way more media attention BECAUSE of the court dealings. The hype about LH is not a universal phenomenon, so the influx of new fans comes down to several factors such as the three-way battle, curiosity about who's replacing MS, the rivalry between FA and LH incl. RD's idiotic handling of it, the media attention re. the court cases and so on...

This is a joke, formula one is really starting to get out of hand in terms of court actions.
Its going to turn alot of "casual fans" off for good.... tht's worrying.

this thread is yet more whining from Mclaren fans. if the 2008 car has ferrari stuff on it it should be banned simple as that. I agree with the fact that no other team other than ferrari should get a say at the WMSC hearing. And another thing how is this mad max's fault? Is he wrong for checking that Mclaren isn't cheating?
