I wouldn't put much stock into what Bernie's going on about, just last month he said Bahrain's good for a race, and tried to sneak an extra race into the calender despite Todt's protests. Hey, he spouts off in whatever direction brings him more money.

But there's all flavors of fans, and for each individual it's a different experience. For the dedicated personal fan who's only interest is a win, when their driver isn't in it, to them it's a horrible day. Despite whatever happens on the track. For the tifosi, when both Ferrari's come home 1 -2 then it's a good day for celebration. Those are some examples of fans who only care about the outcome, despite whatever happens.

For other fans such as myself, the racing, the action, is what matters, drivers and personalities are only a backdrop for the real action. Then there are many more who have expectations somewhere between those two extremes.

There's been comparisons between Vettel's recent successes and the Schumacher / Ferrari era. One huge difference is that in Michael's day, passing was much more different, and more races had very little on-track passing. If you wanted to advance your position, it was done via pit strategy and getting in that critical good in and out lap.

But witness Valencia, where yes, Vettel did run off with it ... again. But back in the pack, we witnessed bunches of cars battling for position, and making pass attempts, and passes on each other. That's something that didn't exist in 2000 - 2005. And although the latest race in Valencia didn't see any severe challenges for the lead, in Montreal, Monaco, and Barcelona we did see where at the end of the race, someone did close up on Vettel and put themselves in a position where they had the potential to challenge for the win. And that's a very good sign, that notwithstanding a Vettel romp on the weekend, it is getting racy at the front. In fact, it's racy throughout the field.

It depends on why you watch Formula One:

If you watch it for the results and purely to watch your driver win then yes, i have a feeling this is going to be a VERY boring season.

If you dont mind the DRS and KERS then there is still hope, as we progress the FiA may perfect DRS deployment and detection points allowing for some interesting and hopefully intense racing.

Though i have to admit, even as a redbull fan the domination is getting boring, Vettel doesnt even need a press conference, its always the same thing!
"We had a fantastic race, i have to say thank you to the guys for the great job they did with the car after i binned it in practice. We had a great qualifying [...] the car is great [...] At the next race we will start fresh, i wont let the victories get to my head"

Do we even need press conferences? They're dull as hell since Kimi left. I keep hoping the drivers will fight with each other, but they never do. Hmm, Schumacher Lewis and Alonso filling the podiums?

There's always the off button on your TV

Doesn't mean I don't get to wish things were better.

It didn't? I'll grant you there were some boring races as there are now but take a look at this clip of the highlighnts of Silverstone 2003. It was edge of your seat stuff throughout. Brilliant. And my man didnt even win, he came second.
Now that was overtaking! And without artificial aids.

So far Vettel has made domination we all know that.In a news i have read that when they gave the example of decreasing interest during Schumacher's domination,Bernie thinks this isnt boring instead this increases the interest of fans.Because people try to guess ''Who will beat Vettel?''.''That is different than Schumacher's times'' he adds.''The challenges Vettel gets is more than Michaels. So he takes more interest.Thats why i cant see any reasons why vettel cant win the victories schumi did in Ferrari.'' He says Vettel is like John Rindt-1970 WDC also Bernie was his manager-

Whats your opinion about this?

I am finding the inevitable Vettel wins really boring. I doubt even Vettel fans want to WDC to be decided with 6 or 8 races to go. I normally watch the races live even if it means getting up at 3 in the morning, but since Vettel is walking away with it, I am just recording the races and sleeping in. By recording the races I am skipping through the commercials so I would think the companies paying for ads are not fans of one driver always finishing first. Even Red Bull is probably not thrilled with the lack of coverage of the leader, most of the cameras are on the battles back in the pack.

The enjoyment I'm getting from this season is wondering which records will Vettel break? I'd like to see him break a few of Schumacher's records, like most wins in a season, highest percentage of wins, most pole positions, and finishing every single race on the podium. Call me boring or a Vettel fan-boy - but that is the reason why I don't think the season is boring. I want to see records start tumbling down.

You want to watch records accumulated rather than good, exciting motor racing? I find that unbelievable!

Not really enjoying Seb getting every pole and then winning every race from the front (except Canada that is). Siverstone should be good to McLaren though, so hoping Lewis turns on the style this weekend. 8-)

Wait, what? Both drivers in the previous race said they need more downforce. Silverstone is a demanding circuit in terms of aerodynamics...

Its easy to say its boring when theres only about 4 Vettel fans on here, that said id find it much easier to swallow if i actually thought Vettel was a Alonso like talent, but i dont, i think hes making the most out of a special car.

Itll all be over in the end anyway, sooner rather then later too.

Yeah, but amazing races like that were ONCE in the minority, rather than the MAJORITY, as we've had this year.

Blinky McSquinty is absolutely correct :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

True, but everybody needs more downforce compaired to Red Bull, so with home advantage, I say (hope) McLaren puts on a decent show. :D

If not and Seb wins again, it will be another step closer to being over this season. I said I give myself until after Germany before making a decision about the championship standings, but if Seb wins again at the weekend, I think it will be thanks very much from them and see you all again in 2012.

Well I wouldn`t really agree on that. There was overtaking, no questions about that one. Somehow it is the 2010 season that springs to my mind lacking overtaking in dry races, well very little position changes that year in dry anyway, well with refuelling atleast there were different fuel strategies, some some were flying and passing while others full tank and rolling home.

However this year, what we see is artificial racing. Now once you`re in that zone, you dont need that much risking. Quite a lot of overtaking is done even before the braking zone, doesnt seem a lot of fun there to me; in Turkey it appeared DRS was way too easy; in Australia on the other hand the zone was not enough; so obviously there has to be found an optimal range. Ok, the records of passing might get broken every next race, but on the other hand, who cares, if they are all just press a button when the green light goes on.
For me, the DRS system sort of makes me think of NASCAR, I`m just wonderign why? :hehe:

I dont know why, but lately it just seems like most of them are driving so carefully not to risk too much and for god`s sake touch wheel to wheel, because they`re scared of those "bad and strict" stewards. Well I would say too often we see some penalties, I was actualyl surprised they didnt give a ridiculous penalty to either Hamilton or Button in Canada, just to make sure nobody tries another move like that :hehe:

To sum all that load of pointless cr@* I just wrote, I wouldn`t call whats happening too boring, but the racing for me, has taken a step backwards.
Now for a full set of rules, we need 1) shortcuts; 2) sprinkles; 3) medal system. That would do well with DRS aswell and that could be a great show, not to be confused with racing.
But to be honest, thats how I lately look at F1. For me ,doesnt realyl matter who takes the titles anyway, since Timo wont do it this year, again :( and Pedro not racing anymore
So lets hope for a good race in Silverstone, or should I say, show?
