Abu Dhabi was Webber's fault for poor qually and brushing the wall into pits. I saw no reason to doubt Red Bull's dealings with their two drivers, throughout the season, even their explanation in Turkey seemed to make sense to me.

However, I understand the other 99 per cent of viewpoints. But I guess that the only time will tell when Red Bull are in a similar position again... I don't see any reason to prevent Hamilton joining Red Bull. But in my opinion Webber's seat is being warmed for JEV.

The rumours rumble on;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formul ... Laren.html

Lewis Hamilton, frustrated at driving an uncompetitive car for a third consecutive season, could be competing in his last British Grand Prix for McLaren next weekend.

The 26-year-old has a break clause in his £75million contract that allows him to leave McLaren in December — 12 months before the end of his five-year deal — unless he is world champion or the team win this season’s constructors’ championship.

Typical inaccuracies from The Daily Mail. It is not the third consecutive uncompetitive car. It was only uncompetitive during the first half of 2009.

Mercedes, who have a strong bond with Hamilton through their association with McLaren as engine suppliers — and erstwhile partners before they sold the majority of their shares in the Woking-based team 18 months ago — will also have the British driver on their radar.
He could be seen as the ideal replacement for Michael Schumacher, whose comeback has been unproductive. The 42-year-old seven-time world champion has laboured in the slipstream of team-mate Nico Rosberg, who raced competitively with Hamilton during their karting days in Europe.
Lotus Renault, short of a team leader since Robert Kubica suffered serious injuries on a rally before the season began, could make a pitch for Hamilton.

Mercedes or Renault???? Are they bloody serious?

Hamilton just wants to have the chance to win, never more so than at Silverstone, where he drove magnificently through the rain to secure a memorable triumph in 2008, while he finished second last summer.

It may be worth saying to Lewis that he could actually have been a 3 times world champion now. He lost '07 and '10 through his own careless mistakes. If this trashy newspaper is basing this on any truth, then his fluctuating viewpoints on his future based on one result to the next are going to drive people up the wall. :banghead:

The News of the World is also scribing similar vibes, but then, that paper is another example of a huge heap of :bs:

The papers will write anything as long as it gets people talking...they always talk alot of rubbish and it makes me laugh at how many inaccuracies that some papers have when they talk about F1.

anywho...i dont think Lewis will go to RedBull id like to think he is Mclaren (through and through) although if the car does start to be uncompetitive within the next few season i see no reason for him to not keep his options open
#263761
Taking the Newey factor into account, how many more years can he go on? Maximum 1-2 years more, he did say recently he will be stopping soon.

Redbull are currently in their heydays, and like all good/bad things, it will end. Take RB out of the equation, McLaren are the best car this season, and still very much in the fight. They always have been, and always will be one way or another. If Lewis is staying for the long term, best sit his a**e in McLaren where his possibilities of winning multiple WDCs are higher than in RB or Ferrari. RB will most probably sink as soon as AN leaves and the major engine changes kick in in 2014. It will be between Ferrari and McLaren, and Ferrari will never be the force of early 2000s again...not without the insane combo of Jean-Ross-Rory-Michael. Possibilities of a similar combo...very unlikely.

By the way I described the newspapers, I thought I made it clear that I don't buy such petty, crap and bigoted tabloid newspapers. I just caught the articles on the BBC rumours section of their website. It was just the combination of the terrible journalism and the subject matter which infuriated me, and I therefore thought I'd post bits of it on here to rant about. :irked:

The thing is the Anti Lewis BBC F1 team have this on their website http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 529426.stm so it's kind of hard to miss. You will find much negative comments about Lewis leading up Silverstone this weekend, they really want Jenson to win or come in front of Lewis this season.

McLaren just aren't that great these days and Lewis knows it. For all their money they can't design a car to match Red Bulls newey design and Ferrari are now looking like the second place team, with McLaren down in third. :banghead:

I agree with Lewis here. No silverware for three years with McLarens budget and two former world champions driving for them isn't good enough. IMO, Lewis should go to Red Bull for 2012. Then we'll see who's the fastest driver out there. :D

Past 3 years?

Which years are these...

2009 - Brawn found a crazy loophole which made their car a spaceship against the rest - can't blame McLaren too much for not noticing this when only 1 team exploited an uncanny loophole.

2010 - Bad luck (a blown tyre) and Lewis mistakes denied them the WDC. The chance was there, not McLarens fault entirely.

2011 - Yes, McLaren should be doing better.

Its just 1 year so far.

Well that's too bad for them...unless Lewis suffers a mechanical failure, Mr Cruise and Collect can continue staring up Lewis' exhaust pipes come the finish line...

After some thought actually its quite obvious moving to Red Bull is such a knee jerk reaction.

Lewis has been given a car capable of winning races in 2007,2008,2009,2010,2011. Theres been no drought of good design at Mclaren.

Two of those years have seen him finish 1st or runner up in the wdc, the other three, have seen dominant cars that werent Mclarens running the show.

And yet STILL he has won races against them.

Senna had to start at Lotus
Schumi had to start at Jordan

Hes been given something no driver ever has and that is basically a Day 1 Australia 2007 offer to race for Mclaren for life.

What he really needs to do is wait and see how losing the mercedes engines goes down at Mclaren, i personally dont see why theyd want their own engines instead of just going for renault engines. But yeah, see how that pans out.

His best option for any possible outcome of his career your looking for, chances for titles, race wins, poles, anything its staying put for life, possibly a move to Mercedes if they get up and running soon, or Ferrari, but nowhere else. Hes only in his fifth year of F1 and theres talk of him being a one hit wonder. Hes just been very unlucky that the last three years have been domination years. Thats all, wait for the moments like 2007 and 2008 where two or more teams fought for wins and titles and youll see Lewis on top.

And whoever said he threw 2010 away, your logic is flawed, he lost a s*** load of points through being taken out from an arrogant mark webber, a 12 point loss with an engine failure in hungary, and a 18 point loss from a last lap puncture. Alonso crashed out being a noob in belgium and not handing back places in silverstone, vettel made it hard for himself by crashing into competitors. Webber even moreso.

Toyota, Williams...

Even without the double-diffuser, McLaren were significantly behind, as were all the other KERS teams. Red Bull, without the double-diffuser, were faster than those other teams.

Renault, McLaren and Ferrari were all hit the hardest, their engineers (OWG) were the ones who came up with the new regs. And you could see in their designs compared to other teams who looked for loopholes while those three adhered to it strictly.
