So I think most people are agreed that the Valencia race was a bit of a snoozer.
I realise that we have been spoiled these past few years with some pretty
fantastic racing and if compared to say a decade ago, a race like this probably
would have seemed very exciting. For me though Valencia hasn't ever produced
inspirational driving. The cars change the lack of race excitement stays the
same, surely this race needs to be scrapped for something better?

Would be nice if we could say goodbye to velencia and bring back A1 ring. (I loved that track).

That's like saying lets get rid of flies and bring in bumblebees....A1 Ring was simply awesome. Easily my 2nd fav after Spa.

I dunno... I kind of like it, despite falling asleep during all the races. They need to find some way to improve it....

You like it even though you fall asleep through all the races. So what do you watch F1 for again? Just curious.

1 grand prix in Spain is enough, time to get rid of this European grand prix BS, If they can't pick one over another just alternate between Catalunya and Valencia like Germany do with Hockenheim and Nurburgring, and besides both Catalunya and Valencia are genrally crappy races anyway so alternating the two wouldn't bother me.

I don't really know actually. I've never had to answer that question before. :hehe:

I really love the tracks, and I like seeing the different varieties of corners.

I actually like qualifying most of all. I like to see the fastest driver win, and I'm always interested in the ways how the drivers approach the corners, how they maintain there speed through the corners, etc. I'm also interested in seeing which cars take which corners better - and I really love seeing the splits. "Oh he's 2 tenths quicker there! Why? Look at his line through turn umpteen!" I guess it's kind of like rally for me, except I don't like how big the splits are in rally.

I want to see who is the best driver, and which car is better, and why each driver and car are better at each particular corner. And I'm also a saddist, because I find it more enjoyable watching a driver defend an overtake, than actually watch an overtake.

That's why I really like Suzuka and Catalunya. The corners are unique and you really get to determine driver's skill, as well as car performance. I think that Valencia is already a unique track.

Sure, a perfect overtake is also awesome, and it's not like I hate overtaking, so some tweaks to Valencia would be nice, plus the scenery is stunning.

The scenery is quite nice, but the track is pants. There are plenty of better circuits in Spain, and even more in Europe. It is my opinion that the European Grand Prix should be held in a different county each year; perhaps pick a set of circuits that could go in the pool, that aren't full-time fixtures on the calendar, and race there? That way we could cover European countries such as Portugal and Austria.

Should Valencia go?

Absolutely. Put me down for " :censored: yeah!"

Every time there's talk about upcoming tracks and which should be cut from the calendar, Valencia should always be one of the first, if not the first, to come up. I don't care if they replace Valencia with cars making laps around a Walmart parking lot. (Okay, I don't want a parking lot, so I'm exaggerating a bit, but....) If I never saw Valencia ever again, I wouldn't shed a single tear or give it a moment's thought.

I certainly wouldn't loose much sleep if they dropped Valencia. But, I definitely think there should be more races in Europe. I also think there should be more races in Nth America.

One problem is the teams are stretched with a 20 race calendar on the current format. Here's an alternative that, I think with a little refinement could reduce the strain (especially financial) on the teams, get more races where they should be and give us, the fans more action to watch.

Using the current format 20 races = 60 event days the teams have to perform at. I think F1 needs to bring back events that are run over 2 days. So we would have some 3 and some 2 day events. This means we could have 22 races yet only have, say, 54 event days.

A major advantage would be very reduced transport costs to the team. Events would be paired so that road transport can be used between them. This is way cheaper and easier for teams that air freight to the distant circuits. It would also save a lot of resources. Hmm, F1 "really" making a change for the greener - now that would be novel.

This is a calendar that I'd love to see (of course biased to my likings) but you will get my drift.

Australia
India
China
Turkey-Hungary (2 day events)
Spain-Monaco (2 day events)
Indy-Canada (2 day events)
Austin
Great Britain
Spa
Germany-Austria (2 day events)
Imola(Europe)-France (2 day events)
Italy
Singapore-Malaysia (2 day events)
Korea
Japan
Brazil
