I took my car in to get the oil changed; got some Mobil 1 put in it; what a performance jump; it appears much quicker to 60mph and the responsiveness is massively increased! Just goes to show that dealers only put in cheap oil; despite the oil change being carried out by Firestone; they quoted me $110 for an oil change, so went to Walmart instead and it only cost $55.

I think the performance difference is in your head! There certainly are vast differences in motor oil but certainly nothing that you should be able to *feel* the difference in... unless you had crude oil sludge instead of motor oil previously. :hehe: I'm a sucker for Mobile 1 but I use a type of Castrol GTX Synthetic. Audi forces you to use some weird euro spec branding for their T1.8 engines it's like 8 bucks a quart times four. I've never been able to find a suitable Mobile 1 version of it. What I'm very particular with is changing it every 3500 miles and the oil filter is changed every other oil change.

I can get the car on the ramp take off the underpan change the oil and filter in about a half hour now. I got pissed off when the service center mechanic I took it to lost about three of the underpan fasteners the only time I ever had it done there. :banghead:

The guy at Walmart did say that it wasn't very good quality oil (this is after the purchase, so not a sales ploy); but it was put in by a dealer so they wont spend out more than they need to! There is defintely a responsiveness boost; although they did also top off all the other fluids and aired up my tyres to the correct pressure.

But since then, my rear driver side door has jammed; the lock mechanism works fine; it's the catch that seems stuck; the door handles inside and out won't release the door... :censored::censored::censored:

WTF? I pay 24 bucks at my independent mechanic - Pennzoil works just fine.

But Walmart also topped off all the other fluids; put air in the tyres, cleaned the wind-shield and vacuumed the inside of the car... and all this in just over an hour!

They also had the $24 Pennzoil deal at Walmart, it's related to some NASCAR driver who happens to drive the #24 car.

Depends on the level of oil grade, if he was using semi synthetic oil earlier, and the one Walmart put in was fully synthetic you can definitely feel a difference.

Maybe that's my problem... that I've only ever put in the primo stuff and don't have anything to compare it to. :hehe:

That's exactly the case; the previous oil was semi synthetic oil and the Mobil 1 is fully synthetic oil...

Making a pizza today, I realized that I had run out of flour so I had none to spread on the counter so the ball of dough wouldn't stick. I made the dough a couple of days ago and forgot I had no flour left. I decided to improvise and use some corn starch instead.... not a good idea.

Don't feel too bad. I was making playdough for the kids I look after today. Well, trying to. One little boy sadly shook his head and said "You're not very good at this, are you?"

Had a lie in this morning. Then checked out this forum, before booking tickets for the Megabus service back up North. I then had lunch in London (Charing Cross Road) with a pal, before attending a rehearsal. I then came back home, and spent ages on here with the Trivia Quiz and now I'm going to bed. Good night! :wavey::zzz:
