It makes for some serious bulls**t racing this year, but thats what you get when high caffeine is involved in the business.

Thankyou Valencia for another action-packed race  Good drive from Alonso to keep Red Bull honest and splitting them.
You can really feel the dejection in the McLaren guys:

Engineer: "Watch after the tires, Lewis."
Lewis: "I CAN'T GO ANY SLOWER!"
Engineer: "Pick up the pace, Lewis"
Lewis: "THIS IS AS FAST AS I CAN GO!"

I really sounds like that Lewis would rather drive that Mclaren in a muddy ditch and leave it there, Perhaps he was also thinking what he would look like in Red Bull overalls.

That was hilarious when he said "i cant go any slower". Im sure he wanted to say "this is f1, im behind the leader and i want win. wtf"

More like "shut the f##k up and just let me drive" :hehe:

yeah, Lewis can be a bit of a prick, but I thought those transmissions were pretty funny. Most entertaining part of the race, actually. Of course, I'm sure he wasn't trying to be funny, which was the difference.

another very controlled win for sebb, not a paticular exciting race, but lewis and jenson picked up some good points i guess, plus i personally dont think silverstone will be that bad, its a toatlly different track which is a proper track!! and the atmosphere will be fantastic!

Lewis pushing and overcooking the tyres slightly was what won him the 4th place in the end. Is that so hard for McLaren to understand, jeez they're trying so hard to turn him into another cruise-and-collect Button its not even funny.

It did seem that way. He almost had such a safe start to the GP he nearly lost more places than he actually did. Disappointing not seeing him mix it with Vettel and Webber in the first few laps like he did last year. But at least he finished and got some reasonable points.
Other than that this race was another example of why Valencia should be removed from the calendar. There were some overtakes for sure but nowhere near as exciting as other races this year have been. Its like Monaco but at least that circuit has the history and glamour.
Oh and if anything is true about these Hamilton Red Bull rumours, this race after the recent engine map changes will have only made him want to move teams even more.

The GP of Europe was the first race at which Vettel set fastest lap. He has a commanding lead in WDC points but only has set fastest lap in one race of eight. His teammate, with only 60% as many WDC points (and is tied for 2nd place), has set two fastest laps. Not mentioning that to denigrate Webber but to highlight the enormity of Vettel's lead.

Which goes to the point that merely being able to drive fast does not make one a fast driver. Everyone in F1 can drive fast but only the select few are fast drivers. The delicate disposition of the Pirelli tyres definitely emphasises that difference.

I echo what others are saying. I will also be the (third?) person in this thread to say that it put me to sleep - literally.

I do like the track. I do like the Spanish grid girls. I do like the architecture. But I do not like the racing. I kept thinking to myself that this may be a great track if (as I have been saying now for a long time) they dialed back the aero and relied on mechanical grip.

It was funny to hear Hamilton back and forth with his engineer. I could hear the frustration in his voice. I also echo EVERYONES comments that we love how Lewis drives and don't want him to change. I was worried at the beginning of the race that he was too lightfooted and was yielding far too much. But I guess it is the age old adage "to finish first, first you must finish".

Vettel raving like a madman on the radio irritated me. I do support the young lad, but come on Seb get some perspective.

Couple other notes:
- Did you see how fresh looking the drivers were after getting out of the cars? What happened to the days of them being soaked with sweat from the exertion - they started sweating int he drivers press conference more than on the track
- I loved Brundle and DC talking about how gutless the current F1 cars are in the low end of the revs - imagine if they still had crazy engines with how good the braking and aero is (although I would like to see less aero)

I was so excited to watch the race in Valencia for the first time!

It's an absolutely beautiful race track, the section beside the beach is just fantastic. On that note alone, I want it to stay.

However, half-way through the race I fell asleep, and woke up to very briefly see Vettel say the word "fantastic" in the top three press conference. So I'm trying to work out through all the race reports what actually happened, and why Webber was third, because when I was awake and alive, he was 2nd.

From what I've read, he made a mistake and dropped 2nd to third. In my opinion that's just not good enough, but oh well, Webber's gearbox might have been doomed to failure so it was a good thing in the end. Really, if the Red Bull car were dominant, then Webber would be a better supporting team-mate and take 2nd to extend Vettel's buffer - like Barichello would do. I really want to see more Red Bull 1-2s.

I also think we still need to see some circuits like Valencia in formula one that reward drivers for their qualifying performances. Sure, Monaco and Valencia - that's enough of them I guess. Who knows, maybe my opinion will change next time the race is held and I'm complaining that Vettel couldn't overtake Hamilton....

Webber was unable to pull away from Alonso all race, 1st stint he was ahead of him but Alonso got by on track (think it was for the first sting), but Webber pitted first and came out ahead due to the undercut. 2nd stint Alonso was fairly close behind Webber, but not really in the DRS zone, Webber was catching Vettel, Webber wore his tyres out faster, and was slowly falling into the clutches of Alonso I think, so he pitted first (made a mistake going into the pits, but I still think that was tyres being shot) and came out on the unfavoured primes. The primes didn't warm up well, and he was pretty slow for the first part of the third stint, the primes fresh were also still slower than the worn out options that Vettel and Alonso were still on. The traffic Horner mentioned on the radio post race, wasn't really a factor I think, Webber came out with traffic ahead but that traffic was pulling away from him early on. Alonso then pitted, came out in front of Webber, was pretty close behind Webber on fairly cold tyres, but they seemed to get up to temperature far easier for Alonso and they both cleared the traffic. They stayed like that for the rest of the race.

You know, this race was so boring I don't even feel like discussing it, I don't really want to talk about either Alonso's pass on Webber, the use of the DRS nor about new material for Hamilton's radio antics.

new material for Hamilton's radio antics.

Atleast he didnt tell the team not to talk to him like one of the Ferrari drivers...

I wonder if we could mix together a rap song using only the radio communications?
