Would you base this on the WDC title or the WCC title?

Anyway, from the Consrtuctors, Adrian Newey has won in the years:
1992 Williams Renault
1993 Williams Renault
1994 Williams Renault
1996 Williams Renault
1997 Williams Renault
1998 McLaren Mercedes
1999 McLaren Mercedes
2010 Red Bull Renault
Did I miss a year? I remember they won in 94 despite Schuey (Benetton) winning the WDC. Plus, was the 98 McLaren Newey's design? And has he won anything between 99 and 2010?

Anyway, from my tally he has won 8 titles and is about to win his 9th. Has any designer got a higher tally than this?

McLaren didnt win the 99 constructor championship, they had points taken away from them one race to help FIArarri which cost them. Just the drivers with Mika.
97 I think he had already moved to McLaren but the 97 Williams was probably his design, as was the 98 McLaren which lapped the field in the first race.

People like to bring up Rory Byrne but one would say in every title winning car he designed he had Ross Brawn along side him as well as only ever one driver winning the title for him. Newey had many combinations and winning designs for more teams.

Over the years Newey has shown he loves new regulation changes.
1998 first year of the grooved slicks he designed the dominant car
2005 the one tyre per race rule he designed the fastest car, whilst not the most reliable which in the end cost Kimi and McLaren both titles.
2009 return of slicks and major aero changes he was pipped by the double diffuser of Ross Brawn. If not for that wording and what he believed was illegal RedBull might have won the titles. Nonetheless RedBull became major contendors.
2010 RedBull take both titles on back of the new reg changes of the previous year
2011 Continued dominance from previous year with minor reg changes.
