I suppose it's a case of who will pay the most money to Bernie at the end of the day.If China still pays highly no matter how few go it will be set in stone.
The way the calendar is getting more widespread, it's very possible Hong Kong could be added as well as China.

The teams won't allow Bernie to add more and more races to the calendar; the teams are becoming all powerful; getting Bahrain removed from the calendar for a second time and having the engine regulations changed and delayed until 2014. Many team principles have spoken out against having extended seasons, without the teams, F1 is nothing!

Yea I agree with what your saying ,but they could drop another european gp out for it.Rumours keep coming up about Spa for a start (sadly).
I hope they don't go for another long haul gp.But who knows ,money talks these days.

Dropping Spa would be a complete disaster. As would the loss of Monza, Silverstone and Monaco (even though the latter is one of the worst for proper racing...the action is sometimes good).

At least the 2011 Monaco GP was good. As have been most races this year. Spa is an excellent choice, although my favourite is actually Monza. Spa is my 2nd. Both of them are diamonds...

If Shanghai is to be dropped then I'd rather have one of the European Grand Prix back; even if that means France is back on the calendar!

What's wrong with France?

I think we have enough races in Europe at the moment, one more would be okay but more than that is just silly. The sport needs to focus on getting more in to the Americas and possibly a return to Africa. After all, it is supposed to be a world championship.

There just aren't enough dates to go around for all these cities that want a GP. They're ALREADY going to have to axe one next year... and then Russia gets one in 2013. Where are Hong Kong, France, and Spa supposed to fit in? Are they gonna have to do a lottery every year?
