IMHO, Valencia is not the worst track. That honour goes to the Circuit de Catalunya.

I enjoy Catalunya on video games, especially when there was no chicane at the end, real fun track. but for watching the race, its very lackluster. If you made me choose which race i would rather watch it would be Valencia, especially this year with the pirelli tyres and drs. drs sucked at Catalunya.

I agree, Catalunya is one of my favorite tracks in Forza 3.

I think we could well have a massive playing field leveller this weekend; apparently changing engine maps between Q and the race will not be allowed so no more specialised Q engine maps which are toned down for the race which surely means that Red Bull will be somewhat slowed in Q as they'd run out of fuel in the race as they can't tone down the engine map!

I thought drivers were able to change engine maps from within the car at any time. Is this not true?

That's the $1m question; we know that it can't be changed between Q and the race; the question is can they still change maps once the race has started; if so then it's a pointless rule!

No, you are seeing me hating these endless rule changes, especially during the season.

They gotta make a show of it.

Hi Vlad - simple question, show me the rule that changed?

Drivers can tweak some settings but the extent that the FIA is prohibiting is done in the garage.

And Vlad I feel your pain, it does seem all these actions are being put in place to slow down RedBull.

It's not a pain, I don't know why you are using the words you use. Maybe you're trying to be sarcastic?
Anyway, mid-season-bans suck.

I guess there's two ways of looking at this ban. First is the RB perspective - it's unfair to do this mid-season. Then there's the other side - if the FiA knew about this and realized it was against the rules before the first race of the season, why did the FiA let Red Bull get away with it for so many races before acting!

Personally I wish they made the right decision from the beginning, for sure it is bad that they are acting now.

In the end, it is a mountain out of a molehill. The overrun is only used for a handful of laps per race at best. McLaren have shown they can win (although they do have a version) but also Ferrari have shown in the last two races that they can push for the win. In fact, I think the Tifosi might be in for their first celebration this weekend, before the ban takes place anyway.

Ban or no ban, the rest of the season is going to be close and interesting - whether RB and Vettel can be caught in the remaining races is unknown, but I'm sure we are in for a much closer rest of the season.

I'm not phased. Red Bull will continue to dominate. Perhaps they will set up a car that's quicker in the race, but as Vettel is a qually freak, I think that he can eak out a few tenths here and there and still get that car on pole. Just as he showed his potential in a Toro Rosso, I expect him to be fine qualifying in the car that isn't the fastest. :P

I do think that the changes mid season are unfair, it's like changing the off-side rule in the middle of a season in football. Or maybe that's a little too extreme.

Newey is getting the speed from many different areas of the car. In qually their biggest advantage is DRS, hence, if they start from the second row in Valencia, expect Vettel to charge up there with his DRS.

In regards to the circuits, I like Catalunya and I think it's a very crucial race in the calender because it's a track for car performance, not a showpiece. Which ever constructor performs best at Catalunya usually is setting the benchmark for the rest of the season. Hence it's a really important part of the calendar from a fan's perspective to compare performances and which team's upgrades are working. Driver skill in a Catalunya basically accounts for nothing. All the drivers love driving around Catalunya and we all love driving around it on our video games. It just sucks to watch it, that's all. :)

It's actually one of my favourite circuits. Behind Suzuka and Spa I'd say.

I've never successfully watched a race in Valencia, but the on-board laps seem to show to me that it's a pretty cool circuit. I think it has a bit of character, but I will finally see for myself if I manage to stay awake this time... :P

For some reason, I usually end up either never watching Valencia because I've scheduled something in that night or early next morning, or I forget about it (a travesty), or I have such a freakin' long day that I come home tired and get bored on the warm-up lap. My only memory of the track is the final two or three laps when Barichello won there with Brawn.

So I'm thoroughly looking forward to it this time, after watching some on board laps, I really feel the turn into the "swinging" bridge is the best part of the circuit, and is a tricky part of it.

I have a good record so far this year, only missing the one race - Sepang. It's such a shame that I always end up missing Sepang, but like I always say, I'm never home during the day so can never really watch the races in Asia.
