That wouldnt suprise me at all given past actions of the FIA. They are a law unto themselves and an unfair and vindictive law who have it in for Ron dennis and McLaren.

i'm curious why the FIA asked McLaren to do this today, and not immediately after the initial leak?

Why weren't Ferrari representatives asked to backtrack after some of the factual inaccuracies (cough: rubbish and media smear campaign) they came out with?

Sloppy job by McLaren even in their accusations of other teams
Give it up Ronnie boy - go back to the drawing board and design a new hospitality (mini-)center that'll fit in your new pit location instead of wasting our time with your petulant 'but they did it too!' :P

They did do it ..and worse. Why should only Ferrari get away with petulance?? McLaren would never have bothered with this had Ferrari not started this saga in the summer, now McLaren are left with no option and are making a point.

flav's not at all happy, according to the daily express he had this to say:

A lot of very bad things have been said about us by McLaren in the last few weeks, very damaging.

We will be cleared and once the verdict is announced we will consider legal action. Our reputation has been defamed.

Ron has bitten off more then he can chew...

He will be forced to sell his shares by Mercedes, they don't want this kind of mess to be alligned with their corporate image.

never fear, he'll publicly blub about being 'honest', about having 'integrity' and how the team is his life's work. the board will back him, again, and the merry-go-round will start over.

I do agree with the above and we will have to await the result but, it does seem that the original statement was sloppy but, it does not fundamentaly alter the situation. The numbers are wrong but the 'crime' was still commited in essentially the way described by original accusation.
I think it fair enough that the FIA requested this 'clarification before the hearing and I think that that is to McLs benefit since the inacuracies cannot be used as a means of defence by confusing the issue.
Some of the corrections are slightly irellevant anyway eg, does it really matter if people saw data on screens or paper?
Anyway, I look forward to the result.

Very good point toothe, although I dont think that Merc. will pull out - not soon anyway, for the same reasons, and their involvement is more than just a sponsor. McL is still 1 of the 2 main front runners.
