I haven't read the previous posts, however I've not liked Lewis' tone in the various press releases I'm reading.

I'm very much picking up an undertone of: "Unless you start catching Red Bull for real, I'm going to take advantage of a pissed off Mark Webber and sign with them."

For a team that gave him his chance in F1, and politically supported him over Alonso when they were driving together, he's not showing much loyalty.

F1 is a business.If lewis hadnt delivered he would have been dropped.Simples.He wasnt kept for any other reason than his race winning potential. This is not a love in. He got supported over Alonso AFTER Alonso thretened the team before that, it was if anything stacked in Alonso's favour as he was the one expected to deliver.

I really hope Lewis stays at McLaren but as i said its a business...and that works both ways.
Look at the other top drivers. Alonso-changed teams . Jenson-changed teams a lot. Kimi-changed teams. Look at past drivers, Mansell, Ayrton etc. All changed teams.
Lewis actually hasnt changed teams, the media have speculated, so perhaps your criricism is premature at the least, its certainly naive.

Yes you have good points, F1 is a business and Lewis would be dropped quicker then a hot potatoe if he wasn't delivering. But still, the whole going up to Ron Dennis when he was 10, getting sponsored by the team from a very early age, perhaps his entry into F1 would not be possible without this sponsorship/backing?

It's a nice story, in the cut throat world of F1 it's nice to know some old values still hold true.

I think every driver wants to win, period. Loyalty doesnt exist in F1. As I am sure Vettel will also leave Redbull one day, he has a similar story with them.

I'm a Lewis Hamilton fan as a racing driver because he always gives 100% but this year he seems too caught up in the mystic of Ayrton Senna and I feel he is almost trying to race a ghost. I think, however, that is the media pushing it a bit on him with the Senna movie coming out. Lewis has made some impatient moves this season, but when you watch season reviews of Senna in his early Lotus days he made some brilliant moves but also some very reckless moves too that came from being impatient. Unfortunately for Lewis, the only one I feel he would listen to right now is Senna and that sadly can't happen. I hope however, that he doesn't cause too much disturbances with his relationship with McLaren until the British GP when the blown diffuser shows any sudden changes of pace. On the other hand, I would also love to see him at Red Bull in future years because look at the entertainers he attracts to F1 (Pharrell, Rhianna, Ice T, Nicole obviously). Lewis in a Red Bull camp would be a promotors dream as they know how to throw the best parties. I wouldn't be surprised if Bernie threw in a little word about his thoughts on a possible Hamilton/Red Bull switch.

I think if you add up the collisions, penalties etc.....the math shows which of them is more desperate for results this year. That desperation is great when it is managed and results in podiums....but when taken over the line it hurts your team. As many of the experts have said of late....Hamilton needs to control his aggression a bit better.

That desperation is great when it is managed and results in podiums....but when taken over the line it hurts your team. As many of the experts have said of late....Hamilton needs to control his aggression a bit better.

Well I think that was Nikki Lauda and he's been shouted down. If you add up the overtakes this year, of which there are many and we are all delighted by it, you'll find lewis responsible for 10% of them. You win some, you lose some, but he wins more. He's pushing harder because his car isnt as fast, so he's more often right on the edge.

I agree with Bill; Lewis is a great driver but he tends to let his frustration/passion/aggressiveness get the better of him sometimes, he tends to be the master of his own downfall. Lewis tends to go with Senna's mantra of "if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver..." - which isn't always the best way of racing; gaps can disappear very quickly and end in disaster!

You keep saying his car isn't fast..but I see quite a few fast laps set by the McLarens during the races. Jenson won in a McLaren....after being in LAST PLACE. There is nothing wrong with the race pace of the McLarens.

Vettel gets quite a bit more pace out of the Red Bulls than his team mate does. Perhaps he is just that much better of a driver. If he is just that much better than Webber...then perhaps he is a bit better than his close rivals as well. He certainly isn't perfect. His car certainly isn't unbeatable. Yet he leads by a healthy margin...because he hasn't gotten overly aggressive. It seems to me that he has simply made fewer mistakes this year than his rivals.....thus far. I'm still waiting for Vettel's big race ending screw up. Hamilton has had his fair share of mistakes already this year....with any luck at all....perhaps Vettel is next. While Vettel has certainly out driven his rivals, I find myself hoping he blows it once or twice to narrow the gap....but thus far he has been far more inch perfect than those attempting to chase him down.

I dont keep saying his car isnt fast. I said its not as fast as the red bull and I think thats generally aknowledged. Im not taking anything away from Vettel by saying that, he's made the most of his car and outdriven his team mate this year. But its easier to not make mistakes when you're out the front because your car is up to a second faster in qualii for most of the races. Yes a McLaren won, but the race was not straightforward. it wasnt pace alone that won the race. I also hope Vettels run will end or the season will beome dull. He did make a mistake last race, ok only a little one.

I think Martin Whitmarsh is probably enjoying Jenson a lot more at the moment than he is Lewis and thats just down to their last 2 races. Jenson had a very fast third at Monaco and a win in Canada and compare that to Lewis at these 2 races. I think Jenson is fitting in perfectly with the team and is starting to rediscover his natural speed within the car, especially in the actual races. He is maturing like a fine red wine and getting better with age so well done to him. The other thing I like about Jenson is even when he missed out on challenging for the win at Monaco he was still very happy unlike some drivers who are never happy to finish 2nd or lower. Lewis, on the other hand, is in a cloud of controversy at the moment but that will end sooner or later, he just needs to put in some solid results. Look back prior to the last 2 races and he had a brilliant drive for 2nd at Barcelona. Although something tells me with the next race at Spain, the Spanish press will do everything they can to distract him from the track. With everything that is going on from the last race and also the controversy from the safety car incident last year between him and Alonso, I'd say Hamilton will be a marked man off the track next weekend from the press. Will be interesting to see how he handles it and it will reflect exactly where he is in his life at the moment maturity wise.
