I have high hopes for vitaly. I like hating on capitalism cuz it pisses off so many of the people in my country so rooting for a russian just makes me all giddy inside And I like that he tries brave things. It didn't work out for him last year all the time...but no risk no reward. I swear he'd have been a hero if he had made it through on nico hulkenberg last year in japan, but he just clipped the back wheel...oy. Also, some of his wrecks have just been bad luck too, like in malaysia this year. I don't think anybody expected his car to rocket into the air in the grass like it did. I was expecting him to just get back on the track and keep on rocking, but it was terribly bad luck

I think Petrov is good. Russians are actually pretty good at sports, so i'm surprised there havent been much russian talent around. Although Petrov is from VERY near Finland, and we all know how good those guys are... hehe

I think he is good enough fast, but inconsistent, but his inconsistency comes mostly from where he hangs out on the field. The midfield is impossible.

Unfortunately for Petrov, this sport runs a strict "only as good as your last race" policy, Petrov of 2011 has been very good, podium accounts for that. But the stuff he got up to like crashing on a formation lap in spa was so bad that it takes a while to recover. All in all anyone that bothers to think about it will come to the same conclusion, he has potential and has shown flashes of brilliance. Problem is with his 2010 inconsistency and reputation as a pay-driver most people wouldnt think about him in the first place.

His Bernienessneeds Petrov to succeed because Petrov represents the entry into an entirely new market segment, much the same as Hamilton did. Not to diminish the skill of either driver but their greater import to the sport is as proselytisers.

Not to mention, with the GP of Moscow in the wings, he's obviously got cozy with the Russian mob, so Bernie's kneecaps might be at stake.

Petrov could become even better with some experience and a better teammate, to make him work even harder. But, he is improving.
