Hello, forumula1!
I'm from Russia. So I want to ask you about our pilot.
To be honest I can't tell you direct answer about Petrov because he is russian too :) On the one part, he crashes too often. But on the other, part we (russians) trust that he is the prospective pilot and he will have great victories. This confidence was amplified after his podium in Melbourne. And it prevents from having the obvious opinion about his driving.

What is your opinion about Vitaly Petrov?

Has potential. I thought, for most of last year, that he might end up a flop like Nakajima or at best forever inconsistent like Sutil seems to be. However, he definitely has pace and as long as he builds the consistency (I reckon he will) then I can see him fighting for the win if he's given a good car. Maybe not a champion, but certainly good enough to win some races.

I think Petrov has got potential and has improved from last year but thats it really.

I think Petrov and Heidfeld are fighting for the same seat at Renault next year, So whoever comes out on top will probably keep there seat at Renault for 2012.
atm its pretty even between the two drivers.

But Vitaly has a lot of Russian sponsors behind him. Heidfeld doesn't.

thats true and thats what will probably keep him safe unless he brings back last years rookie mistakes, if he keeps away from that he should be okay.

Well, actually to be honest i didnt think much of him until Abu Dhabi. Then he drove me mad with making Vettel the champion. He blocked Alonso, did what he shud have been doing of course. Then irealized he actually has potential. For example being 3rd one with that car, blocking Alonso, and accomplishments this year cannot be done without a talent.Yesterday,i have read an article about him and learned that he is the first russian to ever be in f1 so that means there wasnt enough chance in russia to do that but he managed.

I believe he has great talent. A little inconsistent at times but has already shown that he can be a top contender. His ambition leads him to be a little reckless at times on the track as well having had numerous "fender"(open wheel I know) :hehe: benders with even his own teamate Heid. But over time and growth I think we will see him as top 5 maybe 3 in F! future.
I think if tires didnt matter to much in formula one then he probably would be at the top... :banghead:

Hmm... It is very pleasant to hear these words about Petrov. All of you think like somebody from Russia :) I haven't thought that somebody from a foreign country have such opinion about him.

Well, if you decide to stay, you'll see we're not usually this pleasant about drivers, or about anything in general

I like Vitaly a lot. I dont think he was treated very fairly last year...better this year. I think some of the crashes came because of the pressure he was under to prove himself and keep his seat. I think he has a lot of potential, is a nice bloke, I like watching him and I really hope he keeps in F1.

I like Petrov. He had a difficult start in F1, but his hard work his now bearing fruits. Being ahead of team-mate Nick Heidfeld, who's had over a decade's racing experience, is a really great position to be in. I hope he continues to grow. 8-)
