"His crashes in Monaco and Canada, which have led to criticism of his mindset, are borne of the fact that he has to push so hard to try and beat Red Bull Racing."

And yet his teammate was able to finish 2nd and 1st in those same races.

Third in Monaco, Alonso got second.

right, my mistake. Point still stands, though.

I thought lewis and button both extended their contracts 5 years $100million??? Only way Lewis would go to RB is if Vettel Goes to Ferrari and that aint happening. Mclaren and Hamilton have stood by each other for a long time and it would be catastrophe for them to split. Hamilton is a great driver. He knows how to win and Mclaren Showed Great pace this past weekend and that only boosted Hamilton's confidence in the mp4-26. Lewis will no doubt be a front runner come Valencia.

Maybe RB is considering him as replacement for MW. I think LH is so desperate for winning again that he might switch - especially to the team other than Ferrari. Regarding his contract with McLaren, I think there is some kind of bail-out clause if the team is not capable to deliver winning car.

While I don't necessarily agree with that logic, I can understand it. LH has that burning passion for winning that, in my opinion, will always make him faster than, say, Button - not because he is more capable driver than Button, but because he is more into it - more craving for wins. But that same craving will more easily send him to another kitchen, should current one fail to deliver.

i think it would be silly for any driver to commit to a long-term contract starting in 2013. No one can say for sure how the new engines and other unforeseen changes will affect the field.

i guess its wishfull thinking but id like to believe that Hamilton wouldnt ever make that kind of move...hes been with Mclaren for such along time and they are a good combination...hamilton is one of my favourite racers and Mclaren are my favourite team (i guess id be able to cope with him moving to Redbull :P but i dread and shudder to think he would ever move to Ferrari) yuck hate the thought :D

Seriously don't count on it not happening. :nono: Lewis wants to win and he needs the right car to help him do that. McLaren are not as formidable as they once were, they really haven't got anyone who can match Adrian Newey in the car design department so RedBUll will run away for the foreseeable future. RedBull want to dominate they want a legacy and a history matching McLaren so they need two of the very best drivers to pull that off.

Mark Webber is not the driver to do that alongside Vettel and believe it or not Vettel and Hamilton go back a long way. I really have nothing against Vettel i actually think he is a down to earth young chap who has the same will to win as Lewis but hasn't got the same killer instinct. RedBull will pull everything out of the hat to get Lewis on board, make no mistake about that.

Right now Lewis is trying to push a car that is not up to scratch beyond it's limits and is paying for it whether it's his fault or the other persons fault the car cannot give Lewis what he wants. Let McLaren have Jenson Button because with Lewis gone and Jenson in the drivers seat they wont win anything.

I am a McLaren fan and have been all my F1 viewing life but they are letting both drivers down and making far to many mistakes under Martin Whitmarsh. RedBull are on top of their game and it burns me to say it but they are miles above the other teams in work ethic and partying when the time arises.

There pits tops are outstanding and they really have the strategy up to 99% right, why wouldn't Lewis go to their team.

Expect to see more of this as the season continues.

Well its perfectly understandable from Red Bull's point of view. There are constant questions over how much longer Mark will be in F1 and they obviously want a good driver to replace him. Torro Rosso doesn't have someone good enough for a Red Bull race seat so they go looking amongst the established drivers.

From Lewis' side, almost no driver runs the same team their whole career, certainly sucessful ones. Plus it could be more posturing on his part to keep McLaren offering up big.

It's not wise to repeat almost the same thing McLaren had with Alonso and Hamilton. But, time will tell...

How is Hamilton going to RBR repeating 2007?

Vettel is NOT Like Alonso. He is more of a Jenson Button. Fast guy, a "nice bloke" in the the fastest car - Vettel is no way in any shape or form hewn from the same cloth as Alonso or Hamilton... those two are competitive animals that know no bounds. Mama's boy would just be pushed aside in his own team when a big dog like Hamilton comes into the yard.

It would help a lot more if his teammate could either drive as fast as him, or not crash into him when he's trying to make up ground from now onwards.

It would also help if Hamilton didn't try to overtake in impossible situations.

Yes trying overtake on the straights is an impossible idea, no one's tried that before.
