I am a big fan of F1 espeacially of Mclaren but recently it seems to me that when it comes down the stratgey that they are tending to make many mistakes...if its not happening in Qualifying and causing one of there drivers to not get a good grid position then it seems to be happening within the races...a good example is like today in qualifying (Canada) they decide to go on a completly different option to the rest of the field (okay i get that at the time when they we're making the decisions that there was like a 60% chance of having a wet race tomorrow) but dont you think that its best to go with what the majority of the other teams are doing...weather reports can change very quickly and i think they made a mistake today especially since at a track like canada it seems to me you need to have the fastest car and the best grid position possible

Anyway let me know what you all think?!

If you think im talking rubbish then please tell me what you opinions are :D

I think that McLaren have been going with a differing strategy in an effort to break the dominance of Red Bull; playing it safe and going with the majority of teams is not going to get them ahead of Red Bull so they have to take risks. If it rains tomorrow and McLaren finish 1 - 2; everyone will be hailing the strategy as a genius master-stroke. McLaren have two options; play it safe and finish second best all season or try something new and different in an effort to beat Red Bull; I'd rather see the later than watching McLaren chasing Red Bull every single race.

I do and i dont agree (typical aint it) i think that a team does need to try new and different things to try and stop the domiance that is Red Bull...but Mclaren just dont seem to have the ability to pull it off...they keep messing up but i guess i could change my tune tomorrow if they do end up winning the race...although unfortunatly i dont think it will happen

I think there are opportunities to make your own luck, and if indeed McLaren opted for a rain setup today, it's absolutely the right call. Today it was about to rain all through qualies, I don't think the same will happen tomorrow, now thunderstorms are being forecasted with an 80% POP. I brought a poncho gaadaamit and I'm going to wear it no matter how ridiculous I look!

That's the thing with running a different strategy; it's a risk, it might work or it might not, it could have worked to McLaren's advantage in Monaco if the race wasn't red flagged as Jenson had the newest tyres of Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and himself. Gambling on weather is always a big risk but if it pans out, it's the best gamble in the world!

Im all for taking a gamble, and if it comes off, as has been stated, McLaren will be hailed with a stroke of genius. But it is a gamble, and its a gamble at one of their best tracks, best to save the gambling for a track they have no chance at Id have thought. .......and then agen jens is saying its not a wet set up :confused::confused:

I just hope it pays off in this race...someone other then Vettel needs to win because i swear its gonna drive me crazy if he takes the chequered flag again :/ i would love for Button or Hamilton to win it...but like i said before they keep messing up when it comes to stratagies...i nearly every race this year it has never really gone there way...also...in Monaco Button was very UNLUCKY..having to basically settle for 3rd because of the red flag...but then again Hamilton got his car fixed and ended up getting some points even with the drive through penalty he got given...anywhooo i just hope that Mclaren will have a 1-2 tomorrow it will make my Sunday :D saying that anyone other then Vettel winning would probably make my sunday (alsong as it aint Ferrari :P)

''An improvement by Ferrari and lack of straightline speed – due Lewis said to a wrong decision over seventh gear – contributed to the Englishman’s disappointment. It was clear that he was trying to put on a positive public face.

“I feel OK, I feel happy within myself,” Hamilton insisted. “I don’t think I’ve ever driven the car so hard in my life, really. I was on such a ragged edge, I even touched the wall at one stage, I literally gave everything I could.

“We were also trying to use the tow of another car, because we were so slow on the straight – we had the wrong seventh gear in. So we were 10 kms or even more – 12 or 13 kms – slow on the straight, so we were losing a couple of tenths just on the straight. But I pushed as hard as I could. It seems the other guys have made a step forward, so back to the drawing board.”

"We are just very slow this weekend. It appears that the other guys have maybe made a step forward, but I really don't know," said Hamilton.

"We're still not in the worst position, but I would like to be higher up. This was just the maximum the car was able to do. This weekend we're just lacking speed
"But I'm still positive and I'm still hopeful. I don't know when we've got anything coming, but I really, really hope sometime soon we'll have something positive come to the car.

"We didn't really come with any upgrades, the car's not really progressed a lot. While we've been bringing a lot of different updates every now and then, they're not making the car faster generally.

"So we've been at a bit of a standstill for a while. The guys are working as hard as they can, and it's just a matter of time."
Button agreed that McLaren lacked ultimate pace this weekend, and felt he had exacerbated the situation with mistakes on his best lap in Q3.

"It's always frustrating when you're not quick," he said. "We didn't have the pace that we thought we would.

"We always knew that our race pace was better than qualifying, but we're surprised to be where we are.''
