I know the original "black" Stig was Perry McCarthy and they decided to "kill off" that particular Stig when Perry revealed he was the Stig in his Autobiography.

IMO they need to quit with all the BS and choose a permanent STIG ! There is absolutely NO consistency in their testing method! Yah it's great for rating's and the show is a hit, I love it MOST of the time but bound's are exceeded in retrospect to true automotive enthusiast getting the info they want.

Richard Hammond will have his teeth whitened and will then deny it, then James May will drive the slowest thing in the world, thus living up to his nickname of "Captain Slow" - as always.

Well, it seems Hamilton came second, however, his time was very good given the track was wet.

It would have been a respectable time in the dry, but in the wet with oil on the track it was astounding. Had it been dry he would have probably gone 4 seconds quicker (according to TG in 2006) - quite amazing.

Great lap! The wet track and oil laid down didn't affect him whatsoever. He'll be back one day and he'll go even faster beating the Stig's time. :)

Enjoyed the lap, and quite rightly above we'd love to see he in the dry. Shame Clarkson's loudmouth interview technique spoiled it for me.

For me it was completely the opposite. Much better than Parkinson's sycophantic effort.

His First name is 'The', lol http://www.thestig.com/some_say.php

Very impressive time by LH. He equalled Button's dry time, and he was about 2 secs quicker than Webber's wet time. I think he'd break the 1.43s if the track was dry and grease free. He's definitely a talented kid.
