Don't worry bud I know that FIAT were Ferrari's savoir, but if it was not them it would have been someone else. The Ferrari name and what it stands for will never die.

The McLaren - Ferrari analogy is not a good example.
All McLaren had to worry about in the pre Merc days was to build a racing car & find an outsourced motor to bolt on it.
Ferrari on the other hand did & still do everything in house along with producing road cars.
And this is the reason why in 1969 Ferrari sold 50% to FIAT to keep up with growing market demand. If all they had to do was worry about racing it would have been a completely different story.
If you fail to see the difference, all it is is that you don’t want to see the difference.

yes Ferrari build their own engines its not hard to see the difference there but everyone started from different roots, and Enzo once said he had to build cars to put around his Engines. Engines is where his roots were unlike Bruce McLaren who was an engineer and a racer, not an engine builder!
but the difference to building road cars while the volume of Ferrari to McLaren is vastly different McLaren still hand built many a road car in their factory, even most recently the Mercedes SLR McLaren being designed and built in the McLaren tech centre.

Bud to tell you the truth I was rooting for Australia to beat Italy but I was not too disappointed when Italy won. It was a win win situation for me. Italy is in my blood mate and I am proud of it. Maybe the difference between you an me is your ashamed of your Scotland/Germany ancestory ??
I am also very proud to be an Aussy.(Even though I grew up being called a grease ball salami eating Wog)
If you ask me I think we Italo/Aussy’s are the best type of Aussy.

Far from being ashamed of my Scottish German ancestory those two countries have had alot of smart inventors in the past would explain why i am so smart 8) i just embrace my Australiana here and now!

Italo aussies are the best type of aussie? there is only one type of Aussie dude, thats called just Aussie! there is no add ons youre either one of us or not

Its only natural mate, you will find that if someone has a blood connection to something they will be drawn to it.
Like I said previously, with me it in the blood, the heart & the head.
I made my choice on three fronts. And not just beacuse I like the color of the car like some :P

Bud you’re the one who was talking up McLaren's acheivemts before the Merc buyout & disparaging Ferrari's.
What Ferrari were doing before the inevitable sale to FIAT & what they are still doing is remarkable. No wonder they need the FIAT cash. They should be ashamed of themselves.

McLarens road going operation is no where similar to Ferrari's.
The SLR's hand-built engines come from the AMG high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, in Affalterbach, Germany.

Have you seen the Ferrari Mega Factor documentary on Austar ? Ferrari do everything even forging there own engine parts. (If you want a copy PM me, I have it on DVD)

passion isnt passed down from your parents, passion is an emotion that is acquried by ones self in their life.
Religion on the other hand is forced upon people from birth, what youre describing about Ferrari is more akin to Religion ;)

McLaren Fan can you read. :?:
I know you are afflicted by selective reading but just try reading all my comments again and you tell me where I have made a statement saying that other teams design and build their cars without passion.

Your infering something here so do the work & prove it.

Like I said if you find one I will be the first to say sorry for my ignorance.

Look at the Tifosi for example, I've been to Monza, Ferrari is a religion to them, the Monza race is a yearly tradition that is to be coveted and celebrated in full for the whole weekend.

Look at Mclaren Fans, they clap politely with the occasional "Hoorah" and flag wave followed by "Edward, shall we celebrate with a cup of tea?"

Ferrari = Passion.

McLaren = Skilled engineering with supressed emotion.

It's only natural to think Ferrari are the life blood of F1... They celebrate like not other when things are going well, they cry like no other when it's going badly...

People find this charming and addictive, I do, I got caught up in it all when I went to Monza, I was ready to Tattoo myself with a Ferrari logo flying out of Italy that weekend.

Baaaaaaaa....
