Wow! It's difficult to say without professional experience how far along that is. But judging by the level of completion, there's probably loads of infrastructure already in place and that's good. But so much of the work is soaked up by finishing touches. Any comparisons given what we saw in Korea last year?

It wold be a shame if this project misses it's debut this year.

Indians really love to use those "crappy" red bricks. If anybody knows what I'm talking about:

Worst construction material.
EVER!!

Trust me guys those red bricks won't last for a year! might as well use rice crispies to make the walls. I mean, won't be surprised if the Grandstand collapses on the redBull chassis trailers over the course of the weekend. :hehe:

Looking at what the guy posted yesterday

Yaar they are working well on this project....JayPee doe have a great team....not because I am their channel partner....but their quality execution and the construction team they have is the best in the business pan India....Shapoorji Pallonji....Huge number of workers will be joining in ..in few days time....

Approach roads are all done...street lights were being put up...landscaping on its way...

Roof will be up in next 50 days....seats will be installed....Final layer will be done with in the month of October...

That's the reason I said that my next update will be after 2 months...will be interesting to see the progress....

Asia AGAIN!!! I assume Bernie will yet again be getting a ridiculous pay out :banghead:

Why is it ridiculous? India have agreed to pay MrE to host the series which he controls. India could just as easy have told him to poke it if they were not happy with the amount of cash they will have to part with.

This doesn't directly affect construction but it definitely will put a kink in their financial plans. A 'crore' is 10 million, so 200 crore rupees comes to about €29.5 million or £25.8 million.

India F1 organisers slapped with Rs. 200 crore notice

Last updated on Friday, 14 October 2011 19:36

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday, issued an estimated Rs. 200 crore notice for alleged violation of foreign exchange rules to the JP Group which is organising the high-profile Formula One Indian Grand Prix at Greater Noida near here.

ED sources said that notices under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) have been sent twice to the firm JP Infra in the last few months.

The notices pertain to alleged contravention of forex in the preparation of the F1 race and is pegged at close to Rs. 200 crore, they said.

The ED has asked the group to present before it the RBI permissions it received for routing funds to a foreign location.

The 17th race of the F1 Championships is scheduled to be held at the Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida on October 30.

Now Bernie admits his earlier public optimism was a façade:

"I was pessimistic a fortnight ago. I was sent pictures of the track and I thought: 'Christ, we're not going to get it finished in time, but what they have done in the meantime – and I've been sent more recent pictures – is incredible. The people there are very anxious to be sure they're doing a good job and they are very passionate about their sport."

These "the people" he refers to obviously are just a select few Indians because I can fair guarantee around a thousand million of India's 1.2 thousand million inhabitants would rather be gifted a hot meal for their families than free race tickets and paddock passes for the lot of them. I shouldn't expect they'd be too keen on auto racing, considering only one household in 10 has an automobile.
