The redflag was a a huge stroke of luck, the other cases were more of him being clear of opposition whilst other teams weren't able to get themselves only racing Vettel.
Discuss the sport you love with other motorsport fans
Doesn't that seem to be the case for a lot of dominant teams in any sport, that even luck seems to go their way? So Red Bull must have hired a fortunenomisist over the off season because that's what's really transformed them from last year to this year.
Luck occurs when preparation meets opportunity. And motorsport is one of those endeavours where Chaos Theory reigns supreme. If it looks like fortune is forever smiling on the same team, it might well be because that team is the best prepared.
Or the luckiest.

Williams Technical Director Sam Michael has pointed a finger at neither Lewis Hamilton nor Pastor Maldonado for the incident which took the Venezuelan out of Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix. While lying sixth and heading for a maiden Formula 1 points finish with just five laps to go, the car was put out of action at St. Devote corner.
“It was a racing incident,” Michael said briefly in a Tuesday review of the race from Williams. However, after the coming together, Rubens Barrichello was able to cross the line in ninth to pick up the Grove outfit’s first two points of 2011.
“It was great for everyone involved to get some points on the board and we must thank Rubens for bringing home our first of the season,” Michael commented. “It was however, somewhat bittersweet because Pastor was looking good for a big points haul.”
I need some sympathy, because I've still not quite recovered from the horror of the weekend. And this is the only place where peeps will feel my pain.
Monaco is my numero uno favourite GP, that I look forward to more than any other race on the calendar. And it happened to fall on my dad's 80'th birthday this year. The timing was such though.. I had to STOP WATCHING IN THE MIDDLE OF IT TO STOP AND BUY PRESENTS THAT MY SISTER SHOULD'VE BOUGHT DURING THE WEEK THEN DRIVE OVER TO PARENTS HOUSE AND THEN WATCH IT WITH PEOPLE YAPPING SO LOUD THAT I HAD NO AUDIO.
Do you feel my pain? I wanted to turn around and snarl "SHADDUP!" in a very non-loving daughter manner to everyone in the room. I missed what happened at the end with the whole Jens pit stop scenario, I feel like I missed most of the GP really. People were trying to talk to me, and I just wanted them to stop yapping, because there was more important things going on, i.e....THE GP!
I think I need to introduce a new family rule. There will be no celebrations on a GP weekend, or if a celebration is unavoidable, section two states that sennaville is exempt from all such familial celebrations until the conclusion of any Grand Prix on any given weekend.
I think it's only fair...Humpphhh
He was slated for options on his first stop but the RBR drivers had "talked over" each other on the radio so the pit crew failed to receive notice Vettel was inbound. Rather than waste more time sorting out the tyre selection, they simply slapped on the primes they had readied for Webber.
I stand corrected. I reviewed the video and I was mistaken. I thought I remembered seeing a red lettered tyre when Vettel was in the pits but it's during Webber's stop that the options are visible. Their stops were so close, I'd thought I was seeing a replay of Vettel's stop when it actually was Webber's.
Which means RBR were gambling they could get 60 laps out of a set of primes. That's beyond audacious, that's positively foolhardy.
James Allen quotes Chris Horner to say the options were put on Vettel's car by mistake. I have not seen that quote reported elsewhere but he normally is pretty reliable.
Will Buxton reported that the RBR pit crew were all at sixes and sevens as soon as Webber had got out of the box. Well-oiled machine that they are, this would also seem to indicate something during the stop had gone awry (apart from Webber's slow stop).
From his own lips, Chris Horner admits Vettel took on the wrong tyres. As race progressed, Guillaume briefed him they would be bringing him in nearer the end of the race to change back to the options, but Seb warned them off, claiming the primes were still fine. Vettel maintains he had enough pace to hold off Alonso to the end, and Horner echoes that. More's the pity, we shall never learn the truth of it. Damned red flag.
This is a fascinating conversation I'm having with myself. Shame no one is listening.

Tivo, DVR....how race fans live without them is beyond me. Record it, skip the commercials....live in bliss.
I HATE COMERCIALS!
I always have the feeling like something insane is going to happen, and I can't watch it, because of the damn comercials! That's why I started watching it on the internet.
