From what they were doing, it seemed like they were simply taping up the rear wing fixture where the Toro Rosso broke it!

They actually removed and changed BOTH of the wing's side plates.

Luckily they do not make the rules in f1, they must be Ferrari fans.

The only reason they brought this up was because vettel got the upper hand of the red flag tire change. (he still would have won in Monaco)

? You don't see how it spoiled what was shaping up to be a good ending to the race? You don't see how if a driver has issues during the race, they will have to pit and lose time to solve them, but under a redflag situation its a free pass?

Why do people post on a forum when they've already made up their minds? Are you hoping the rest of us will agree with you?

yep.. If safety was really that much of a concern, they should have just ended the race as it was - especially with only 5 laps to go. I vaguely remember only one overtake after the resumption anyway... and i may even be wrong about that.

Alonso would not have got by vettel and vettel was not going to pit. If you can repair rear wings then tire changes should be allowed.

I am just posting a opinion, I will run all future posts by you for your approval (sarcasm)

the point is neither should be allowed. And you cannot say that Alonso or Jenson would not have gotten by vettel on tires (Pirellis, mind you) that were 68 laps old.

You don't know that. You should consider vettel lucky as he didn't have to show if he is the real deal or not. I was disappointed because if we would have gotten to see the tires fall off AND he would have still won, then that is an amazing feat while doing it with two other world champions chasing him down, all while at one of the hardest tracks in the world.

As it stands, he lucked out BIG TIME. He was about to get to that point where the tires shread 2-3 seconds away from his speed.

It's you posting an opinion as fact that I was referring to.

As others have pointed out more directly than I have, you don't know that, the tyre degradation isn't linear, Mclaren were predicting Vettel's tyres to "fall of the cliff" in a few laps, that was interrupted by the redflag.

I'm not sure anyone was suggesting you can change rear wings but not tyres. I don't think Pierlli were suggesting that, or even offering an opinion on the rear wing change, their concern is tyres.

Acting as a steward in Monaco, sports car driver Allan McNish told the Guardian that tyre changes are not allowed under the same circumstances at Le Mans.

"Even if you have bodywork damage you can't repair it, you've got to restart the race as you finished, so that if you've got a good strategy or a bad strategy, you have to restart as if nothing had happened," he said.

Just my opinion but I soooo wanted to see Jenson, Alonso and Vettel go at it on different tyres around the streets of Monaco - it could have been an absolute classic or seen us arguing 'even on tyres 3 seconds a lap slower xxxx couldn't overtake...etc".

If I had my way I'd have the Championship leader forced to start on Pirelli road tyres - he'd have his car sideways before even moving off the grid! :whip:
