,"only 2 time world champion on grid", has just been descicively outdriven and outpsyched by a sensational rookie

Rather, the 2 time world champion was demoralised by a frivolous team that somehow manages to bring out the worst out of their talents (see Kimi and Montoya plus many others before) with their self-proclaimed "equality" garbage.

Alonso would have won the title for Mclaren. But in the end, the best team and driver on the grid won it, by beating the best car.

Agreed, Ron isn't exactly top of his class when it comes to driver motivation. Montoya/Kimi/Alonso all great drivers but didn't gel with the team boss...

Montoya underperformed. A promising singing which delivered very little. A big disappointment.
Raikkonen left because McLaren were simply not up to standard.
Alonso left because he couldn't handle being owned by a rookie. Whereas Senna and Prost rolled their sleeves up and did everything to beat one another, Alonso acted like a spoiled child.

Sure, Hamilton was faster then anyon expected and caused big problems politics wise. I guess Ron was thinking long term and realised he's better putting his eggs in the Hamilton basket.

I would have thought it would be good manners to support Alonso this season and tell Hamilton his time will come.

what tell Lewis to slow down? thats the opposite to what the sport is about.

Not tell him to slow down, but support Alonso politics wise and resource wise and tell Lewis to take it easy and learn this season.

I think Ron thought he could take the title with a Rookie, almost pulled it off, it was a big risk...

I just stumbled across this article at http://www.grandprix.com

'Alonso and Honda
There have been many rumours today about Fernando Alonso meeting up with Honda and supposedly having a seat fitting. These are not true but that does not mean that the Spaniard has not been talking to Honda. The big question is whether Honda is talking back. The bottom line is that a double World Champion in his prime is a rare thing to find on the F1 driver market and that means that probably all the teams have been talking to Alonso. It would be foolish not to.

But who knows where he will end up?

Clearly there is something holding back a decision about the future and one must assume that this is talk involving various teams rather than a straight deal with Renault which has been much discussed. The big question is which teams are involved. Red Bull Racing has embarrassed itself by being quite unable to get the story straight with some saying there are no talks and others saying there are talks. Toyota seems to have removed itself from the equation by signing Timo Glock but is that deal as solid as it seems? Honda says that talk of Alonso at Honda is "pure speculation" but that is not a denial. However there have been straight denials of meetings and seat fittings.

And in the meanwhile BMW and Williams have made no noises at all about Fernando. Both have drivers under contract and seem to be satisfied with that'.

And both drivers for BMW and Williams are confirmed too. Pro-Drive pulling out is making me curious thinking Alonso's had something to do with it and has agreed to drive for someone who will come right out of the blue and join next year's grid as the elusive 12th team.

That was a quote from the the grandprix.com article not from me  .

Alonso wouldnt drive for a new team, do you really think he would have drove for prodrive on there first year? Alonso wont make a decision to go to Renault until after the hearing. By then he will be behind in adapting and making changes to the car. He will be at a considerable disadvantage, with all the new changes to 2008.
