No driver will ever win the first 5/6 races and not win the title, ever. " What if they crash and break their leg" congratulations mr comedian  , never going to happen and by the time it would hed have such a huge point lead it wouldnt matter.

Odd. Because people do crash and break their legs. And it could happen even in the next race. It's not like we're saying that the only way he could lose is if aliens invaded the track and kidnapped him.

If SV dropped out of the season next month, then anyone regularly getting on random podium positions would be scoring an average of 19.33 points per race, and SV would fairly rapidly be caught and overtaken.

How many times, in an average of.....13? races a season, times by 60 seasons, has a championship leader, let alone one winning 5/6 races, crashed, and broke a leg.

Like i said stop playing on technicalities and read the thread title, he has effectively won the title.

I was optimistic on the begining of the season saying: Vettel will dominate this year.
I must say that I wasn't expecting this kind of domination. This is unbelievable. IMO, he should just keep driving the way he drives now, and there will be a lot more successes for him, not just this season.

Im gonna wait until the 10th race (Germany) to determine if Vettel is going to win the Championship....Im hoping that Mclaren are gonna seriously put a spanner in the works for Redbull in Canada and then hopefully continue to do so going into Valencia and Silverstone (a girl can hope cant she?! haha) Vettel is a talented young driver but he has gotten lucky in the last few races...and at some point that luck has gotta run out...hasnt it?! maybe thats just wishful thinking....either way i dont like the thought of watching that same driver get pole and end up winning the race....meh...anyway lets just hope Mclaren stop messing up with there stratagies and that Lewis get his act together...Jensen has not done anything wrong...it just seems that everything is going against him atm...hopefully this will all change very soon

I think it's Vettel's to lose.

Very true yet it will mean a huge step up in performance from McLaren and Ferrari if they have a chance at battling for the WDC. After following F1 for 32yr's if there is one thing I have learned is to not dispell the unexpected. I'm happy for all of us here that we finally had an exciting race at Monaco instead of just another train from start to finish.

To be honest billin, I was glad to see Alonso making Seb earn it. I was almost rooting more for him than Jenson as the guy was putting some effort in trying for the lead unlike Mr Cruise and Collect behind him. I'm still having trouble believing what I felt.

Oh man...that must have been painful. I hope there was plenty of rum or equivalent on hand! :drink:

Since we are confessing....I was happy to see H pass Vettel in China and uttered a stifled cheer....so I do know your pain. :D

It really helps Vettel that 2nd place is shared among several guys. That really spreads the gap.

You said this:

That is an absolute statement saying that it cannot happen that a who wins the first 5/6 races can win the championship. You don't seem to understand the difference between something that is very unlikely, and something that is impossible. If you don't want people to criticise what you write, then you should be more careful to write something that's actually sensible.

I am happy for Vettel (my fantasy F1 team is not). He is showing this year that he has some skills and can stand with the best of the best.

But lets not count the chickens before they hatch. With the changes in engines revving under breaking and other teams improving I think that McLaren and Ferrari definitely have a chance to make a run at it. Especially if we start to see Vettel having DNFs. I am still haunted by last year and how delicate the car was mechanically.

Still a lot of races to go and two (okay three) really good drivers who can challenge. It will be an exciting season even if Vettel runs away with it. The races this year have been really exciting.

As what Horner said recently, Vettel is just over 2 wins away from the next competitor. That's just above 20 points in old money....which really isn't a lot is it? Throw in a reliability problem here, a rainy race where someone hits Vettel there...and we're back to even stevens! Its up to the competitors to stay in touch and not keep cocking it up all too often. Monaco was a serious chicken up from McLaren on both days, really. Only way is upwards from here.

In your scenario(s) you take for granted that LH (or FA or JB to a degree) wins both races where SV doesn't score. That is a fallacy and thus, more than 2 races might be needed for any one driver to draw close to SV's points total.

The Championship can swing around any which way. I think the chances are high of Lewis winning races with Vettel DNF'ing. The chances are also high for McLaren to slow down in developments while Redbull goes even faster, with Vettel creaming the opposition.

The point is, its pretty early in the season and at least we have another team which is equal on race pace with Redbull. Its far from over, and I really don't think injury is required for Seb to make this season interesting.

If the 2nd,3rd,4th drivers do not finish the next let's say 6 races while Seb wins them all. We can all go home and sleep till 2012.

There's still around 300 points for the taking, with Seb having a 60 point lead. It does seem quite large doesn't it, its already 1/5th of what's left. :irked:
