Hi all. I am new to this forum. I'm an F1 fan and a fan of Lewis Hamilton.

I think the signs are pointing to a Vettel win at the Monaco GP. Not just for the 'obvious' reason i.e. his dominance. He hasn't won at Monaco before, is the strongest qualifier which of course is a major factor given the lack of overtaking opportunities, and Red Bull have shown they know what they are doing when it comes to strategy.

I've been a sports writer for more than 20 years and for anyone who is interested I have written a feature-style preview of the race on the Suite 101 website, I'd be interested to know what you think. If you like it please feel free to forward it, 'like' it, share it, tweet it etc <content edited>.

Alonso and Hamilton on top in practice 2. It may not all be plain sailing for Vettel. Experience counts for a lot at Monaco. Alonso, Hamilton and Button have all tasted success here, whereas in a competitive machine, Vettel has either crashed out or been soundly beaten by his team-mate.

This, of course, can all change. However, I hope it doesn't. :hehe:

I think you're right there and that's what makes it interesting. That's one of the reasons Monaco is so exciting, you just never know what's going to happen. When Lewis got a puncture at Monaco he then went on to win and I still remember the race when there were 8 different leaders on the last lap with drivers running out of petrol etc.

There's just signs though that Vettel is too good at the moment although Lewis is hanging in there. The 25 points for a win helps to make it a bit more interesting.

Another good thing about Vettel compared to Schumacher is that Schumacher had that winning mentality to the extent that he wasn't an entertainer, Vettel is more charismatic.

I don't think he will, he will have to pit, and I don't think this is a track he cant blitz for the entire time to create a gap for his pit stops. he will do well but I don't see him winning. He's stated in the past this isn't one of his preferred tracks. but if he can win it, it will put him in a special list. Because it is a hard track to win.

Didn't realise that Vettel has never won Monaco but I'm not surprised. It doesn't suit his style of driving as killem said. He does seem to be in the form of his (shortish) career, though, so I wouldn't rule him out.

Clearly looking very promising. I don't think it's going too far out on a limb to say that Button is the biggest danger for a Vettel win, depending on whether McLaren will have better race pace. SV has MW's measure at this track. FA - would be nice but a big ask as the Ferrari probably won't be quick enough. LH is too far back and will be lucky to get on the podium.

Really, Hamilton should have had this one. I want to stab him in the neck with a wine glass for waiting so late into Q3. Hamilton's normally pretty strong in Monaco and topped the time sheets for both Q1 and Q2, only to throw away a pole that should have been his and a race win that may have went with it. So, congratulations to Vettel on yet another win. Sure, Button's up there, but Button isn't Hamilton.

Sure, Button's up there, but Button isn't Hamilton.

That's deep.

Actually it will be good to see if JB can pressure SV and if he has the pace to keep up to the end. Lewis did it,and in Barcelona of all places.

Well typical Jennyboy (as I 'affectionately' like to call him) simply followed Alonso and settled for 3rd...jeez what a bore. Even when he could've had the race, there was no attempt whatsoever.

Well, Vettel needed a vast amount of luck, but he got there in the end.

BBC F1 chief analyst Eddie Jordan: "This had drama from the very start. Today was a remarkable day. Sebastian Vettel is the luckiest man on the planet. Everything is falling into place for him."
