He's banking on Mercedes having some say in the matter.

He's got to be prepared to play 2nd fiddle to Lewis Hamilton, although I'm sure he would have a few more horses under the bonnet.

JPM always complained that Ralf got more horses from BMW...

Can't Mercedes just send him off to the DTM or something... PLZ!

No, no, no.

I'm sure there must be some other good young German drivers. Cannot see the PR folk at McLaren being too happy if they did appoint him. Didn't the editor of the F1 magazine recently leave that publication to join McLaren? The mag was never too fond of Ralf and he didn't like them either!

As said above, more of a prod to other teams to snap him up.

I cant believe that Ron, or Mercedes Benz, would consider Ralph,
Michael quit while he was ahead, Ralph should quit while he is behind.
In fairness to Ralph though the Toyota has been a bucket of sludge hasn't it? Michael wouldn't have won much with it. But he would have made Toyota get their finger out and fix it quicker.

I remember Patrick Head once saying "We would love to have Michael Schumacher as a driver, however we couldn't keep up with the pace of all his technical demands."

I can't see brother Ralphie being committed enough to jump on the phone to Ron Dennis each night asking how the new parts are coming along... In fact I could probably guess what Ron Dennis would say to him

At this rate Ralf is going to wind up as number 1 on the F1 Rejects section "Hang up the keys". Infact why isn't he there already? :D

He would be a good number 2 driver for mclaren, sorry number 1A driver.
Has experience in developing a car (Hamilton dosent)
Is German (Merc will love that)
Not too fast (Hamilton will love that)
Could bring some money with him (Ron would love that)

Struggles with motivation this year so , maybe no retainer but money for points

Apart from the German bit, this sounds like a good reason for him to go to Force India as 2nd driver.

I'm kinda thinking that if Ron really wanted Ralph he would have been a McLaren driver year's ago? I view Heikki as too good of a young driver and one with too much future potential to pass up, imo.

Hamilton needs a fast team mate . he's just beaten a double world champion! He needs a challenge now to keep him on the sharp edge. Ralph is not a challenge!! Not sure id choose him over Hamilton for developing the car either. Think if it came to speed or being German merc would go for speed. I guess Ron could do with some money thanks to the FIA ..... but dont think he's that desperate

I am sure with motivation Ralf would be as fast as he was when he was at Williams
