You're kidding right? I have no doubt Lewis will win out in the end but at least we'd have someone seriously pushing him every step of the way. Lewis has had it too easy with Kovaleinen and having it too easy now. Thankfully he's proven his mettle in his rookie year in the best possible way.

I like the concept of Kobayashi going to Ferrari, however I disagree with Kiki that they should kick Massa out now. We know that Ferrari usually design cars that are too difficult to handle - look at Badoer and Fisichella last time they made a mid season change. Then I think at the end of this season they will make their call based on the performances of some of these young guns - whether it be Kobayashi, Perez, Di Resta or Hulkenberg. Alternatively, Ricciardo looks good out on the wings, and so do Vergne, and perhaps Bianchi?

While I would love to dream about having Kobayashi at Red Bull - they have a Young Driver's academy and it's time to start using it - particularly with Vergne coming through the ranks. I think Buemi can make the step up for just one season and we'll see how that goes. I'm looking for a driver who can be second fiddle to Seb, in a better capacity than what Mark is doing. I reckon that Vergne would be the best fit to the main team, however - it would be unfair to put him through ahead of the others.

For Ferrari, I really want to see them start investing in a young driver of their own. So I want to see Bianchi make the step up.

The way things are going at STR/RBR at the moment I can see Algy getting the bump for Ricciardo soon, since Buemi is outperforming him by quite a bit. I don't know if any young drivers from RB are ready to step into an RBx yet though. McLaren or Ferrari seem like the best places for Kobayashi amongst the top teams and he'd be silly to leave Sauber for anything less the way the teams are stacked up at the moment.

I agree with you on seeing the sun setting on Alguersuari's stint, but I'd hate to see Kobayashi go to Ferrari under any conditions or as a maleable product to support their number 1 driver. If he does choose to go then I would want to see him unbridled and ready to give anyone a run even his teammate. I think if Sauber lets him go then we know what kind of team they're aiming to be, if they keep him, then they must feel that they can make a serious challenge with their new money and their acquired talent. Kobayashi has really become a much more stable driver this year, and staying at Sauber, being able to showcase his talent of slicing through the midfield is only going to drive up his value in the coming year or two.

Top teams are looking like they will be pretty stable next year anyway. Another year of carving through the field in the Sauber and I think it will be more a case of offers to drive for better teams rather than Sauber just letting him go. The alternative is Sauber turning that money around and kicking in Renault and Mercedes' doors

I wouldnt mind as long as they dont get into any personal fights and as long as RedBull is on top.

Hopefully Newey would have imparted enough knowledge to his staff and inspired them to achieve the success he has brought to RedBull in the future. Also, RedBull's success will probably attract many engineers over the next few years who will want to work alongside Newey and hopefully learn why he is so great.

Key is rule changes and evolution. No matter how much you learn, you need that genius to spot something other's cant and that isn't something you can 'teach' or 'learn' IMO. If F1 remained without rule changes in the future (which is impossible) you might have a point.

Well Mclaren did have a great 2007 season after Newey left and even after Redbull took Newey in 2006 they were not that amazing till 2009. But this could be, as you said because in 2009 there was a massive rule change which allowed Newey to bring new innovations to F1.
