The FIA’s Charlie Whiting has revealed to the media that from next month’s Canadian race onwards, Grands Prix may feature two DRS zones, opening up the prospect of even more overtaking. Current plans for Montreal are to allow drivers to use the moveable rear wing on the back straight and the main straight.

Races thus far this season have featured just one DRS zone, usually on the track’s longest straight, but with the detection/activation technology having been honed during 2011’s first four Grands Prix, Whiting feels the software is now ready to allow for two zones on suitable circuits, usually ones where there are long straights in close succession.

I'm still surprised they are thinking of having one at Monaco, still can't think of a good place for it.Its not wide enough.Tunnel will be to dangerous.Start finish isn't really a straight.thats about it.

I agree that the start-finish "straight" will be the best place, as we've seen some nasty accidents in the tunnel over the years. I remember back in 2004 when Fernando Alonso had a large one after trying to pass Ralf Schumacher. He caught the marbles and that was that. I'll be shocked if the DRS zone is put in the tunnel.

As for the start-finish, the first corner is also incredibly tight......

Make the entire circuit a DRS zone, just like qualifying.

I'd rather them be able to use DRS anywhere anyway, and also for all cars to be able to use it rather than just the trailing car, so that way it isn't so contrived.

It's contrived for overtaking.

Makes no sense whatsoever to me having only one zone for such a drastic change in the rules.

i think that having two drs zones from now on, could work in theory, but then some fans will start moaning that its too easy.....and you have too much and its not pure and so on, but then what would everyone rather have?, lots of overtaking or no overtaking?

More overtaking please. Webber complains about it all the time, yet failed to do what Vettel and Button did so brilliantly in Spain = OVERTAKE. Not so easy for some eh Webber?

DRS unlimited usage is a lousy idea. Are you guys saying the chasing car and the car in front are able to use it? Then whats the use of DRS anyway....it doesn't make sense.

And if the chasing car is able to use it throughout, it just makes overtaking even more easier and artificial. What we have today is working well, why change it? People said its going to be too easy, well it isn't. Yes, it makes racing slightly artificial, but its the price to pay for progress (aero efficiency). If it's not broken, don't bother fixing it.

In monaco I don't think it is lousy, I think it would be extremely risky and if those who get greedy can't handle it, boom, barrier.

along with the guy they were trying to overtake...

2 DRS zones is dumb. It means a faster car won't actually be able to pull away from a slower car, especially a straight line dominated track like Canada
