Jenson Button isn't too fazed about losing out to Fernando Alonso in qualifying, after all, he has an extra set of soft tyres.

Qualifying at Barcelona on Saturday afternoon proved to be a strange affair as aside from Red Bull and McLaren everyone else in the top ten left it late and did just one run to book their grid slots.

However, Fernando Alonso's one run saw the Spaniard pip Button to fourth place by 0.032s.

The McLaren driver, though, isn't complaining - at least not too much.

"My lap wasn't too bad. I was quite happy with it, three-hundredths behind Lewis," he told the BBC.

"I was disappointed not to be third on the grid and then Fernando got in between us as well. But I suppose the good thing about it is I'm on the clean side of the grid.

"Having your tyres in good condition makes such a difference.

"The tyres are a big part of the race, I think we're in pretty good shape. Fernando's used all three of his softs, which is nice."

Hopefully the new regs will create the first exciting race at Barcelona since....erm........

Yeah, if it wasn't for the atmosphere, this track would be diabolical.

In my opinion, this is the worst venue. But with a bit of DRS................. :drink:

There is another track that runs it close for boredom, thats only a two hour drive south of barca as well.Amazing how one country can have two terrible tracks and both be used.

So lets see Vettel's racecraft skills now that he's not on pole.He has the fastest car to win it so I don't wanna hear EXCUSES.

If he doesn't have kers he doesn't have the fastest car, Webber does. If he does have kers he has the same car as Webber.
hamilton leads into turn 1, vettel ends up winning, heard it here first.

Possible!

probable!

Why discounting Webber so much?

Predicting Vettel winning, as he has done for.......3/4 races this year, whulst taking into account vettels kers didnt work, is far from
" so much" discounting webber, it doesnt discount webber at all.

Im probably the biggest non-webber fan on here to big him up anyway, when everyone said vettel would dominate 2011, i reminded them of webber leading for longer in 2010, when everyone said after australia that webbers going to be crap all year, i reminded them of the situation in 2010. When everyone said vettel would get pole all year only yesterday, i reminded them exactly what race it was in 2010 that saw webber click (spain....)

I swear i always get "picked" on for the things im far and away the least guilty of doing on here out of everyone

That really was edge of the seat stuff. Great racing.

What a start from Alonso, shame he pitted early to defend his place, thus ruining his race.Once again Vettel proves he can lead from the front.Didn't have to overtake any of the top three again.McLaren looking like they have closed the gap in race trim at least.Great drive from Lewis.
Think once again Lewis and Seb proved how much faster they are than their team mates.Schumi looking a bit more like we are used to seeing as well.

There just isn't any stopping Vettel. Mark blew it, although Hamilton's race pace was surprising,

There's only so far Alonso can drag that Ferrari, defenceless once the other leaders got in clear air, didn't matter if it was by pitting earlier or later than him. Great start though.

Good stuff from Sauber. Excellent race car, drivers are sensible to.
