Ferrari's new Barcelona rear wing with comparison to the Turkey rear wing

Wow there's going to be a huge difference when using the DRS as the new wing will stall a lot more when open, there's also an additional slot on the outside side upright going from three to four.

I've heard, from a usually reliable source, that Aldo Costa has resigned.

EDIT - It's correct. He will stay in the company, but with new responsibilities.

2ND EDIT - It would make way for Rory thought

That rumour is gathering a lot of steam very quickly. Fry to replace him apparently.

Ferrari might want to get a B-spec in the pipeline and do what McLaren did in 2009. Fight for wins in the last quarter of the season, and take it from there. When such a personality steps down, its a big sign of big changes, and there's no time left this year for changes as such.

Actually Hammer, that's basically sound advice. There's never a time when winning is bad. Ferrari need to make changes where necessary (but I don't think wholesale changes are necessary).

Possibly a bit of the old generic answer for all sports players and managers "we're just taking this one race (game) at a time". See what we can achieve each race, get ourselves back in the winners circle as soon as possible and go from there.

Agreed with that. It is dissapointing to have high hopes in the offseason but to find out after that the pace is not as much as expected. Clearly something went wrong with their predictions and preparation during the offseason. These changes can only be good for them, as it brings a fresh perspective of things. I won't be surprised when they start achieving multiple wins towards the back end of this season.

Costa forced to resign after 5 races, Pressure of a nation behind the one team is costly to your job security in Maranello it seems.

My guess, as I said above, Aldo will go to the sports car side and Rory will move in

They have split the technical director position into 3 positions all 3 people directly report to Domenicali.
Director of Chassis - Pat Fry
Director of Production - Corrado Lanzone
Director of Engine and Electronics - Luca Marmorini

Not sure Rory will ever come back Spanky, espeically in a full time position. He is after all nearly 70.

Mind you, they haven't been too successful with him for a while now. He wasn't in his role for only 5 races.

It's Pat Fry in his role, I here, not Byrne.

Byrne doesn't seem to into the f1 side of things anymore, or maybe Ferrari are being realistic and trying to phase him out.

They have had a fair few race wins with him actually. Drivers title and 2 constructor titles and many race wins. Hardly enough reason to say they havent been too successful i would say.

It comes down to the pressure of the Italian media and people on being at Ferrari. Were there calls for Neweys head at McLaren when his MP4-18 failed to make a race it was too out there?

He still had Byrne by his side until 2009 though. Plus he's up against Pat Fry, I think I'd rather have Fry. Not sure about changing mid-season though.

How much influence Byrne had in that time is speculative. Again he was in a part time position its hard to say what kind of influence that had on the design team. Did he come up with ideas? doubt it, more than likely gave ideas the yes or no.
And Pat Fry hmmmm hard to say how much influence he can have, as he never really did any of this at McLaren, he was never their technical director. He was chief race track engineer.
