the whole point of team orders is to swap drivers when one is slowing the other, or both, down.

How could Massa be slowing Alonso down when he's 15+ seconds ahead? Slowing down that much would only cause Ferrari to score less team points. I don't think even ferrari would risk that just to get Alonso another point or two.

Then again, massa did have some pretty horrible pit stops in Turkey... hmm...

You do realize we're talking about F1 and not WWE?!

And I'm sure if they could they would but they didn't so it wasn't possible without bringing the sport into disrepute or being seriously punished,

team orders + allowed = they could of if they wanted to

That's not what the rule says,

Look its hardly going to bring the sport into disrepute when its clearly legal. Swapping drivers 2 seconds apart is ok, but not 22 seconds?

They have been other points where Alonso was just behind Massa, Massa didn't budge then either.

His driving is plenty, he just happens to also be technical. .

So are plenty of other drivers, when they sign for the team they sign as a driver in press releases, I find it funny this perpetual myth that Fernando is some demigod who has a degree in engineering. 6 tenths he brings to a team because of this degree :hehe:

Ah but when a rookie team mate is 6 tenths ahead of him in China, so upset is said engineering genius that he kicks the motor home door off. " No one is 6 tenths faster than me in the same car" ..Er yes they were.

doesn't matter what the rule says. Clearly the teams can legally order whatever the heck they want.

The point is WHY would they hold one of their drivers back 15+ seconds when he's having no immediate adverse effect on the other driver?

I agree with your last sentence. It's too early in the season to be manipulating races. It's only favorable to do that if one of your drivers is clearly out of contention.

Must been a record amount of time without going into the radioactive zone. Time to bunker down again I suppose.

Because some people are insinuating that Massa is de facto number 2 to Alonso,

maybe he is, maybe he isn't. My point is that you can't draw a conclusion one way or the other based on the fact that Ferrari has not ordered him to slow down by 15 seconds. No team would do that (especially this early in the season) regardless of their drivers' relationships. Let's not forget there's a Constructor's Championship too.

Well they did it to Rubens.

But yeah times change, Massa will probably go longer this season without being made number 2,

You still DON'T GET IT? DO YOU

Related statement from the WMSC:
A number of changes were made to the Sporting and Technical Regulations for 2011, including:

- The article forbidding team orders (39.1) is deleted. Teams will be reminded that any actions liable to bring the sport into disrepute are dealt with under Article 151c of the International Sporting Code and any other relevant provisions.

Now all the "smart" Ferrari fans please relay the radio message to Massa who is 21 seconds ahead letting him know he needs to finish behind a slower Alonso WITHOUT BRINGING THE SPORT INTO DISREPUTE

Use your brains on this one :hehe::hehe:

Ferrari always eventually gets back to being the best car, so theoretically if you stay with them long enough, you'll get a title. Or maybe your teammate will.
