I got a little time to kill and wanted to come up with a thread that couldn't possibly turn to anything other than positive discussion. I know right? Well we've got the now playing thread and people have mentioned things here and there on other about you type threads. I wanted something specific to just who your favorite band or artist is, and why. It's just an opinion and there is no bad music if it speaks to you, so jam away with your story.

Mine... The Clash.

Bar none... They were born in an exceptional musical era, they were influenced by The $ex Pistols and The Ramones, but they greatly transcended that influence becoming musicians in the process. They produced iconic albums, songs that became generational anthems and developed an iconic lifestyle and stage presence that has influenced musicians for decades since they last cut a groove. Once apart the members all went on to solid musical careers with projects and band like Havana 3am, Big Audio Dynamite, Gorillaz, and The Pogues.

My favorites from them...
London Calling
The Guns of Brixton
Train In Vain
Hitsville UK
The Sound Of Sinners
Ivan Meets G.I. Joe
The Magnificent Seven
Should I Stay or Should I go
This is Radio Clash
Janie Jones
Charlie Don't Surf

Ok, I better stop, cause the list goes on

Black Crowes

They're one of the few bands who, regardless of how my tastes change, are always amongst my favorites. There are certainly "greater" bands out there, but none reach me on such a personal level (musically and lyrically) as they do. Lions, the album they recorded after touring with Jimmy Page, is probably my favorite album ever.

Hard to say, very hard... It's probably somewhere between Iron Maiden, Death and Mercyful Fate/King Diamond...

I have a really wide taste in music, anything from classical to trance, electro to rock etc.

In the sense we're talking about, I've always loved the Smashing Pumpkins. Either the original line-up, or just after Darcy left and Melissa came in to play base shortly before they split up back in 2000. I went to see them live twice and they were amazing.

I have a bunch of favourite songs. In terms of Albums, my favourites are Siamese Dream and also Machina (the commercial release) which I think is by far their most underrated album, there's not a bad track on it. Some examples:

Dying Fetus!!!!!!!!!

Heaviest, most technical instrumentals you'll ever find from a three person band, not to mention the unearthly vocal growls from John Gallagher. Listening to Sean Beasley sweep on his bass like it was a guitar and watching Trey Williams play blast beats with a bored look on his face like it's child's play is awesome. You can't find more talent in a three person band any where.

This is an interesting combination right here...

@ Tex... so why do you like Pink Floyd?

@ Everyone that put a list of their favorite band... if you had to choose just one, which and why. I could have put a top ten list, but I was hoping to get a little personal feedback as to why people liked the band they chose. Reach a little people.

@ Everyone else that did give a band and feedback as to why... it was an interesting read and I'm looking forward to more favorite bands.

@ Vlad... so which one are you in the trio?
